As a Product and Marketing Counsel, you will proactively assess legal risk and provide smart, practical guidance to stakeholders throughout the financial product development lifecycle. You will advise the company on legal issues related to our UK and Canada products throughout the product development lifecycle, from ideation to design to execution, launch and iteration. You will also advise the company on legal issues related to UK and Canada marketing and other related communications, including but not limited to email communications, digital advertisements, television production, financial promotions, editorial content, and landing pages.  You will report to the Head of Legal, UK and work closely with members of our Legal team and cross-functional teams across the organisation. The role requires a self-motivated and highly collaborative individual who excels in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


What you’ll do:

  • Take ownership as the Legal representative to help our UK and Canada Product and Engineering teams in developing innovative and compelling personal finance tools for consumers
  • Assist our Business Development and Partnerships team with onboarding and handling business partners, their product offerings, and any integration or implementation needs
  • Assist our creative, brand and revenue marketing teams develop marketing materials for a wide array of platforms including reviewing marketing, advertising, financial promotions and other communication materials for legal and regulatory issues
  • Engage in cross-functional projects with multiple colleagues to manage existing risks or proactively identify and mitigate upcoming risks
  • Assess the business impact of new and evolving legal and regulatory requirements in the consumer financial products space
  • Educate internal teams in a simple, easy to understand way about regulatory issues as they relate to a wide range of products and features
  • Provide meaningful, business-savvy guidance that creatively solves legal and business issues
  • Make risk based decisions on when and how to take smart risks to achieve the business’s goals

Minimum requirements:

  • UK qualified (or equivalent qualification considered)
  • Minimum 3 years PQE, preferably with some in house experience in a consumer facing business 
  • Experience advising on consumer credit (CONC), FCA Handbook, consumer protection and privacy laws. 
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills
  • Intellectual creativity and problem-solving skills that involve taking smart risks


Preferred qualifications

  • In-house experience strongly preferred
  • Previous FinTech experience a plus
  • Experience with FCA regulations on credit information and MCOBS is a plus.
  • Ability to manage projects involving cross-functional partners
