What is the Dean of Students Role?
As the Dean of Students at Brooke High School, you are an integral part of the school’s leadership team and are responsible for building and maintaining the school’s positive culture of high expectations on a daily basis.
Your general responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working closely with the Principal and the Assistant Principals to develop a positive school culture of high expectations and respect
Serving as the point person for students and families regarding all disciplinary actions
Managing detention for 9th-12th grade students (making parent phone calls, scheduling detention, sharing in-school suspension coverage, leading detention daily until 5:00 pm)
Managing suspension and expulsion hearings in accordance with state law
Managing breakfast, lunch, arrival and dismissal with the Director of Operations
Being highly present and visible during school hours and modeling positive interactions with students and families
Collaborating with leadership team, staff, and families to address student behavior, implement effective individual behavior plans for at-risk students, and use data to drive decision making
Providing students in crisis with space and strategies to cope and improve in-class behaviors
Committing to an extended school day (7:00 am-5:00 pm) and remaining available to teachers, students, and families outside of school hours
