Who are We?
Brooke Charter Schools is a network of four public charter schools, serving grades K-12 in Mattapan, Roslindale, and East Boston. At Brooke, we coach and invest in our teachers to ensure students experience high-quality education at all times. We leverage our family partnerships to help our students achieve high levels and graduate from college. Academic achievement empowers our students to live choice-filled lives and enhances their ability to contribute to creating a just world. Brooke’s culture of achievement serves as a foundation to support students in recognizing and building on their identities as sources of strength, even as they work to grow and succeed in new ways.
What is the Associate Teacher Role?
The Associate teacher program is a one-year teacher residency preparing educators with the skills and resources necessary to lead their classrooms. Associate teachers are paired with experienced AT Program leaders. AT Program Leads are experienced teacher leaders with proven results to generate high student achievement and engagement.
AT Program Leads support Associates with regular observations, coaching conversations, and formal monthly evaluations. Associates participate in over 300 hours of weekly intensive professional development centered around successful classroom management practices, developing standard-based lesson plans, and cultivating student-centered learning environments.
You’ll start the year observing great teachers in action and gradually take on more teaching responsibility as the year progresses. You’ll develop your teacher toolkit through lead teaching coverages and consistent daily teaching components. The Associate teacher program prepares you with the skills necessary to lead your classroom and supports you in a career in education.
Associate Teachers earn a competitive salary of $55,000 and full benefits. Successful Associate Teachers may have the opportunity to fast-track their teaching career and move into lead teaching positions or long-term lead teacher coverages during their Associate Teacher year. Lead-teaching promotions are accompanied by a significant salary increase of at least $72,000.
