Sales Director, Perform (Entertainment Vertical) - (Remote, US)

Wurl is looking for an experienced and strategic Sales Director, Perform (Entertainment Vertical). This role reports to the VP, Advertising.  Our ideal candidate is a strong individual contributor and team player, who can hire, manage, and grow multiple global sales teams to support the Entertainment vertical of the Perform business. 

The focus of the role is both management of a sales organization including customer success managers who support sellers, and opening doors to high-level conversations with SVODs, AVODs, and FAST channels, as well as their agencies, ultimately closing or assisting sales managers in closing and negotiating their deals.  It involves daily interfacing between and across numerous teams including with senior stakeholders to lead the growth of the overall Perform business while owning the overall long-term relationships made with major clients to ensure continued growth.

This is a senior role, requiring experience with the above, and the business acumen needed to maintain and model revenue targets, divide territories and verticals and develop pricing and incentive strategies, in service of growing revenue and a healthy org from the ground up in the US.  This candidate should be multi-skilled and knowledgeable in the media and sales space, using strategic approaches and the ability to think outside the box to provide solutions to complex problems.  Some significant experience in at least 2 of the following: Entertainment, Content, Advertising Agencies, CTV, Television advertising.  The candidate has unique knowledge and the ability to influence and collaborate with senior executives to achieve goals and grow the business through winning deals and stewarding the performance team and business growth. 

 

What You'll Do

  • Selling and managing performance marketing campaigns to top tier customers in the streaming entertainment space
  • Speak and engage with audiences at multiple streaming events to advocate for Wurl Perform in the entertainment space
  • Winning media sales deals, and growing, managing a team to success with aggressive quarterly and annual sales targets
  • Collaborative leadership skills, positive attitude, and passion for revenue growth
  • Strong analytical capabilities and consultative sales skills, and a deep understanding of technology-enabled advertising
  • Experience or understanding of how to foster strong relationships with Content Providers and Streamers
  • Ability to interface across teams, intrapreneurial skills
  • Ability to collaborate on the story for our go-to-market materials, interfacing with Marketing and Sales-Marketing
  • Develop and maintain healthy, productive, working relationships across the business
  • Set business goals and maintain monthly financial results and projection plan
  • Organizational Structure and Hiring: Building and executing an appropriate team staffing and hiring plan that includes roles and responsibilities to achieve team goals

Qualifications

  • BA/BS; MBA preferred, not required
  • 10-12+ of experience in agency, have run a global business for a platform/publisher, or have a media sales and/or consulting background with strengths in strategy and negotiation
  • Agency-side experience and contacts
  • Proven success in prospecting new customers, pipeline development and closing deals
  • A creative storyteller who can motivate customers through insight-driven communications
  • Balance analytics with creativity, manage KPIs, and speak knowledgeably on digital metrics as well as understand financial business objectives and translate those into action for teams
  • Ability to influence and inspire internal and external leadership and stakeholders to take appropriate risks
  • Experience negotiating contracts
  • Experience winning media sales deals, and growing, managing a team to succeed with aggressive quarterly and annual sales targets
  • Collaborative leadership skills, positive attitude, and passion for revenue growth
  • Strong Communicator - You are the quarterback and the coach
  • Strong analytical capabilities and consultative sales skills, and a deep understanding of technology-enabled advertising
  • Experience or understanding of how to foster strong relationships with Content Providers and Streamers
  • Ability to interface across teams, intrapreneurially skills
  • Ability to collaborate on the story for our go-to-market materials, interfacing with Marketing and Sales-Marketing
  • Outreach and relationships with key 3rd-party partners: Developing an ongoing relationship with representatives from various 3rd-party demand partners to drive Wurl’s business and AdPool product goals
  • Develop and maintain healthy, productive, working relationships across the business
  • Set business goals and maintain monthly financial results and projection plan
  • Organizational Structure and Hiring
  • Packaging inventory to focus on core audience requested in the media sales market
  • Some travel, once COVID restrictions are lifted and travel is deemed safe
