Warby Parker is on the lookout for a motivated Senior Construction Manager to lead a team of Project Managers in executing high-quality build-outs for our stores, showrooms, and headquarters. In this role, you'll play a key part in leading our new store openings (NSOs), remodels, and special projects—from real estate planning to project closeout. What you’ll do:

  • Lead the Construction team and serve as its point person to resolve NSO site issues, scheduling challenges, and other construction obstacles
  • Guide our Project Managers in solving complex construction issues and work closely with the Store Design team to maintain design intent and brand integrity across locations
  • Develop and enforce construction schedules and processes for NSOs and remodels to ensure timely completions and continual, effective communication across internal and external partners
  • Oversee the management, maintenance, and tracking of project spending; provide reports, analysis, and retrospectives to keep projects within budget and inform budgeting for future projects
  • Support the Real Estate team by creating budgets; providing constructability analysis; and reviewing letters of intent, landlord work letters, and other construction-related lease exhibits for all new sites
  • Work with our Purchasing and Contracts team to ensure our compliance with all closeout requirements
  • Directly manage select complex NSO and remodel projects
  • Provide feedback on architectural, MEP, and vendor fabrication drawings and details to grow and improve the constructability, ease of installation, durability, and cost of our designs and build-outs
  • Collaborate with our Store Design and Facilities teams on complex retrofit and remedy projects while ensuring minimal disruption to our business
  • Assist the Purchasing and Contracts team with RFP initiatives

Who you are:

  • Backed by 8+ years of experience managing retail construction, including 3+ years managing a team
  • Equipped with a bachelor's degree in construction management or other related field—or with the equivalent in relevant work experience
  • A leader who empowers, motivates, develops, and supports their team in making smart business decisions that advance our company’s goals and values
  • An adept, agile problem-solver who stays cool under the pressure of tight deadlines
  • An empathetic team player who collaborates well with business partners and vendors
  • A skilled communicator who articulates problems and solutions with ease
  • Comfortable reading construction drawings, shop drawings, submittals, bids, proposals, and lease exhibits
  • Well-versed in the technical requirements for building and maintaining retail spaces, as well as the nuances associated with various retail environments including street locations, malls, lifestyle centers, and mixed-use developments
  • Tech savvy—you learn new software quickly and know the ins and outs of the old standbys (like Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

About us:

Warby Parker was founded with a lofty objective: to offer designer eyewear at a revolutionary price while leading the way for socially conscious businesses. By circumventing traditional channels and designing our frames in-house, we’re able to offer top-quality glasses and sunglasses (plus an uncommonly delightful shopping experience) at a fraction of the traditional going price.

Since starting out in 2010, we’ve set up headquarters in New York City and Nashville, built our own optical lab, and opened retail locations all around the U.S. and Canada. As we grow, we’re committed to proving that businesses can scale and be profitable while doing good in the world. For every pair of glasses we sell, a pair is distributed to someone in need—to date, that’s over five million pairs.

Of course, all work and no play makes a dull workplace. Who likes that? At Warby Parker, you can look forward to company outings, volunteering and learning opportunities, and just great company. Teammates can also connect around common interests, backgrounds, and identities, no matter their home base, through our various employee resource groups. (We’re happy to say that the Human Rights Campaign has named us a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ employees!) That sense of community keeps us excited to walk through the door every day. Good work, good people.

Some benefits and perks of working at Warby Parker:

  • Health, vision, and dental insurance
  • Flexible “My Time” vacation policy
  • Retirement savings plan with a company match
  • Parental leave (non-birthing parents included)
  • Cell phone plan reimbursement
  • A health-and-wellness stipend
  • Free eyewear (plus discounts for friends and family)
  • And more (just ask!)

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

Because we do business with the government, we must reach out to, hire, and provide equal opportunity to qualified people with disabilities1. To help us measure how well we are doing, we are asking you to tell us if you have a disability or if you ever had a disability. If you already work for us, your answer will not be used against you in any way. Because a person may become disabled at any time, we are required to ask all of our employees to update their information every five years. You may voluntarily self-identify as having a disability on this form without fear of any punishment because you did not identify as having a disability earlier.

How do I know if I have a disability?
