The Who, What, Where and Why

Twilio is seeking a Staff Engineer on the Enterprise  team. You will join a cross functional team and collaborate with Product Manager, Architects, and a talented group of engineers to build new features which add value to Twilio’s growing number of enterprise customers.  This engineer will own, operate, and maintain the teams’ services in a highly scalable distributed production environment.  


Twilio is looking for an engineer who lives Twilio Magic and has a demonstrated track record of production level software development. They also have:

  • 8+ years of software development experience with cloud application development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related industry experience
  • Successful track record of delivering and maintaining reliable, scalable, traceable and performant distributed systems to customers in a production cloud environment
  • Extensive experience with building and using REST APIs
  • Experience with:
    • Java or C++ with experience in multi-threaded programming
    • Experience with implementing identity, authentication, and access management controls in a Cloud environment
    • Agile development and is comfortable decomposing complex problem statements and comfortable coordinating activities of other personnel
  • Nice to haves:
    • Experience as a technical lead or scrum master for small team
    • Relational Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL or equivalent)
    • Distributed in-memory datastore (Redis, Memcached, Hazelcast or equivalent)
    • Production experience using Amazon Web Services
    • Familiarity with SIP, RTP, WebRTC, streaming media or real-time communication protocols
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - You are confident in writing down and presenting your designs and decisions throughout the development lifecycle. You are also comfortable providing and receiving feedback in an Agile environment
