ABOUT ROCKET MONEY🔮

Rocket Money’s mission is to empower people to live their best financial lives. Rocket Money offers members a unique understanding of their finances and a suite of valuable services that save them time and money – ultimately giving them a leg up on their financial journey.

ABOUT THE TEAM 🤝

The Rocket Money Engineering team is comprised of full-stack problem solvers, infrastructure builders, accessibility advocates, quality champions, systems thinkers, musicians, woodworkers, writers, actors, and more.

We’re building a rapidly-growing financial platform that helps millions of people to live their best financial lives. Our engineering team has met numerous technical challenges, from accommodating rapid growth, securely ingesting billions of financial transactions, to building a best-in-class mobile application that has been the #1 finance app in the App Store. Our work is impactful – in just a few years, we’ve helped millions of people to collectively save more than $1 billion.

We’re growing our team, and are looking for an Engineering Team Leader who can help us take our platform to the next level leading our Cloud Infrastructure team. In this role, you will oversee the development and maintenance of our core infrastructure, ensuring that our systems are scalable, reliable, and efficient. You will lead a team of engineers, fostering their growth and ensuring the delivery of high-quality solutions.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL:

  • Lead a highly-skilled cloud architecture team focused on maintaining our cloud platform, including our deployment flows, application environments, and security controls.
  • Act as a player-coach on the team, driving architectural reviews & working alongside engineers to solve technical challenges.
  • Create OKRs that reflect the business value derived from a deeply-technical group of high performing engineers. You are the acting product manager & engineering leader for this team, so balancing the needs of our engineering team & wider business is critical.
  • Be accountable for making, measuring, and delivering on team commitments, as well as pivoting when necessary in order to keep the team focused on the most impactful work.
  • Work with a high level of autonomy and know when to escalate concerns or collect feedback. You’ll own day-to-day decisions and have space to iterate on team norms and processes.
  • Foster strong working relationships with cross-functional counterparts (in areas such as Developer Experience, Platform, and Information Security) where problems are addressed directly, and decisions are made based on what’s best for our users, team members, and the business.
  • Support and grow a team of highly-skilled engineers through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and mentorship.
  • Proactively identify trends via monitoring and alerting systems, performing root-cause analysis to isolate and resolve issues.

ABOUT YOU 🦄

  • You have 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture and DevOps, with a focus on containerized developer platforms (such as ECS or Kubernetes).
  • You have 2+ years of experience managing an engineering team.
  • You’re comfortable identifying, owning, and solving problems from end to end, across domains. You get excited when you need to learn something new to figure out a solution.
  • You lead by example. You take pride in building robust architecture, and provide tools and mentoring to help others do the same.
  • You’re pragmatic and empathetic. You seek to understand how performance issues impact users, and how process-changes impact engineers. You seek to align your team’s efforts towards business outcomes, and strive to make that alignment engaging, exciting, and achievable.
  • You can tailor your management style to suit your team members, identifying where some people might succeed with a more hands-off approach than others.
  • You're familiar with the principles of "Infrastructure as Code" (Terraform experience is a plus!), having used it to deploy resources to multiple environments.
  • You shy away from manual work/processes and try to automate things whenever possible. Doubly so if it enables others to be more productive in their daily work.
  • You are an engineer by trade, with a history of shipping production code and designing distributed systems to work at scale.
  • Experience with FinTech or consumer apps is a plus.

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
