The flagship SPAN Smart Panel is the first true evolution for the traditional home electric panel, harnessing enhanced technology for metering, monitoring, and control. An expanded product suite of intelligent, integrated solutions radically lowers the cost and complexity of energy upgrades–including solar, batteries and EVs–empowering homeowners to be active, resilient and informed players in the energy market. 

 

The Role 

The National Account Director is a key role in the growth of SPAN. As the electrical industry continues to expand its focus to include ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) initiatives, SPAN is creating a new category that bridges traditional electrical products with renewable products helping to meet the ESG initiatives set.  We are looking for someone with leadership, passion and experience selling to national and regional electrical distributors. This role will sit within the Distribution Channel and benefit from the demand generation and sales efforts across the Builder and Installer Channels. This is an opportunity to establish SPAN in the electrical industry as a dynamic thought leader and category creator. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with senior leadership to develop a robust electrical distribution strategy and execution plan for assigned electrical distribution accounts

  • Develop relationships and execute supply level agreements, sales and marketing plans with assigned accounts at both national and regional levels

  • Negotiates contractual agreements and ensures contract obligations are met

  • Conducts regular business reviews and presents outcomes to executive leadership

  • Engage across all aspects of the distributors business - electrical, EV, renewables, etc. 

  • Work with regional sales and marketing teams to understand local market conditions and needs to ensure they are captured in the national and regional plans

  • Support the local awareness and onboarding of installers through distribution to create pull campaigns with local sales teams

  • Work cross-functionally to ensure programs are executed and supported by supply chain, product, operations, sales ops, marketing and finance teams

  • Understand and monitor industry trends and opportunities for SPAN to expand the business model within distribution 

About You 

Required Qualifications

We are seeking a National Account Director who has:

  • 7+ years of experience and success selling to national and/or regional electrical distributors

  • Demonstrated ability for the art of technical sales: driving urgency, consultative selling and closing business

  • Strong analytical and operational skills in executing distribution strategic plans

  • A solid and genuine understanding of technology, specifically relevant to smart home and sustainable or renewable energy

  • Ability to create a long term vision and engage key stakeholders to execute on that vision

  • Ability to get things done in a fast-paced startup environment

  • Strong team-player with proven track record of working effectively with all stakeholders

  • Past experience building out a new vertical for a company, including managing a team

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Positive mindset and attitude, and a passion for rapidly scaling residential electrification and renewable energy solutions

  • Up to 40% travel may be required

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $145,000 - $198,000 plus benefits, equity and variable compensation for Sales-related roles. This range represents SPAN’s good faith estimate of competitively-priced salary for the role based on national, real-time industry data from companies of a similar growth stage. This range reflects minimum and maximum new hire salaries for the role across US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and individual factors including relevant skills, experience and education or training. This range correlates to the relative level of the candidate we believe we need for the role and may require an adjustment for candidates of a different level.
