About the role 

As a perception engineer at Recogni you will be building the AI-vision part of our actual product. From multi-modal 3D object detection, over panoptic segmentation all the way to kalman filter tracking - you will be part of the team that is building an end-to-end state-of-the-art autonomous drive perception stack, inspired but not limited by and out-performing today’s approaches to help our customers get to full autonomy within a commercially and technologically viable envelope.

  • Conceptualize, develop and release AI functionalities around compression, quantization, multi-loss, knowledge distillation, massively parallel training and every other technique that is part of bringing our synergistic system-level approach to market
  • Release your work aligned with our in-house libraries as well as in compliance with automotive safety standards
  • Coordinate with other departments (hardware, embedded software, sensors, product)
  • Pro-actively maintain up-to-date knowledge of our field through papers, blogs, conferences, meetups


  • Master or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science or AI
  • 3+ years of successful experience in building and releasing AI-centric automotive vision functionality
  • Ability to quickly extract relevant information from publications in our field
  • Experience in working in compliance to functional safety standards such as ISO 26262/ASIL
  • Very familiar with/fluent in the latest versions of the following tech stack (ordered by relevance):
    • TensorFlow, Python, Git(Hub/Lab)
    • GCP, Google TPU, Nvidia (TensorRT)
    • CUDA, C++
  • Solid knowledge in the fields of:
    • 2D/3D single- and two-stage Object Detection
    • Semantic, Instance, Panoptic Segmentation (incl. Lane Markings, Free Space etc.)
    • Dense Depth and Optical Flow Estimation (SLAM)
    • Early, Mid and Late Fusion concepts in multi-modal sensor frontends (incl. LiDAR, Radar, IR)
    • Ensembles, knowledge distillation, regularization, multi-task learning, compression, quantization …
    • System-level AV integration, ROS
    • Traditional computer vision (particularly around low-level pre-processing of image sensor data)
