Title: Senior Tax Manager

Position Summary

The Senior Tax Manager is a hands-on position and the ideal candidate will have excellent communication, interpersonal skills, technology, analytical and management skills.We are looking for candidates who rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, perform a variety of tasks, and review the work of others (outside advisors, internal work papers prepared by the Company’s finance department). This position will be responsible for reviewing our federal, multi-state and local income tax returns prepared by our outside advisors and ensuring we are filing in all required states and localities (nexus requirements, etc). In addition, the position will ensure we are filing sales and other taxes (such as property, franchise, annual returns, etc) in the proper jurisdictions as well as evaluating additional requirements as the company expands into other states and other international jurisdictions. The position will conduct research and prepare technical memoranda on tax issues as necessary. This role will report to the SVP of Finance.

What you will do:

  • Preparing financial statement income tax provisions pursuant to APB, FASB, and SEC pronouncements using Excel. Experience with implementing tax provision software is a plus.
  • Supporting the company with sound tax research, planning, and advice
  • Work with our external accounting firm in the preparation of consolidated Federal income tax returns, as well as state and local income returns; by gathering information required to ensure timely filings and ensuring completeness and accuracy of the filings
  • Responsible for all local and state tax compliance including sales, property, franchise or any other requirements as required
  • Providing tax expertise in the areas of acquisition, international expansion, reorganizations, and consolidated returns
  • Evaluating and recommending improvements to tax processes and controls, along with interacting with the company's independent auditors.
  • Strong project management skills necessary to work with outside advisors and management on development and implementation of tax planning strategies to minimize the company’s taxes while keeping the company tax compliant (transfer pricing, ownership structure, etc).
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Accounting Officer or Chief Financial Officer

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with CPA or MS Taxation preferred
  • 8-10 years of tax experience (3 years in public accounting), with increasing responsibility
  • Experience working in an international technology company a plus
  • Experience with tax provision preparation 
  • Strong multi state and local tax experience
  • Strong initiative and ability to work collaboratively (in a team environment) as well as independently
  • Strong Excel skills and knowledge of tax research databases (CCH, BNA,  etc), SOX and ERP Systems. 
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

The anticipated salary range for this role in New York is $150,000-$155,000 plus variable commission / company bonus. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, geo-location and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
