For over 50 years, National Information Solutions Cooperative (NISC) has worked to develop technology solutions for our more than 890 Member-Owners, who are companies in all 50 states, Canada, America Samoa, and Palau, that provide utility and broadband services to other businesses and individuals like you. As our technology footprint expands, we find ourselves in need of a passionate individual who can help our talented developers grow and stay knowledgeable with the current and future NISC technology stacks. As a Development Experience Engineer at NISC you would be responsible for creating and teaching the content that will support our development teams’ professional growth and keep our internal efforts aligned.    

Essential Duties:  

  • Create onboarding curriculum and content for new hires.  
  • Coordinate and execute regularly scheduled “Office Hours” events set to provide on an array of learning opportunities for internal employees related to learning and technology.  
  • Lead hands-on workshops and training to internal employees around NISC’s technology stacks.  
  • Curate internal technology blogs with an emphasis on learning and enterprise updates.  
  • Proactively identify and solve internal learning gaps within technical areas of the business
  • Partner with human resources and hiring teams to bolster effective hiring best practices for technical talent. 
  • Maintain an accessible relationship with the NISC development community while staying ahead of industry related trends. 
  • May be asked to mentor or lead others. 
  • Implement standards behind the effectiveness of learning efforts and programs.
  • Partner with other training and development teams to ensure effective collaboration and alignment around similarly related internal initiatives. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred: 

  • 3+ years of experience in software development or related experience preferred.  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience creating technical documentation or educational materials preferred.  
  • Ability to lead in person, virtual and other internal or external public speaking engagements.  
  • Possess experience with the following technologies preferred:  
    • Spring  
    • SaaS 
    • Java 
    • Angular  
  • Strong familiarity with modern software development practices, technologies, and tools.
  • Strong ability to mentor, communicate and collaborate effectively with team members at all levels.
  • Excellent ability to demonstrate initiative and accountability.  
  • Excellent research and problem-solving skills. 
  • Possess an excellent attention to detail. 
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Ability to travel as often as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the position.

Education Preferred: 

Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, a business-related field or equivalent experience.
