NISC’s Software Research Analysts collaborate with support, development, system engineers, requirements analysts and other subject matter experts to analyze, research, triage, reproduce and identify a root cause for complex support issues. These individuals are thorough, analytical problem solvers who are detail oriented, communicate effectively, and enjoy problem solving software related issues.  Works with all areas involved with the software lifecycle at NISC to define and document best practices for quality integration and troubleshooting processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Analyze, research, troubleshoot and document highly complex application and customer issues.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to reproduce and resolve issues.
  • Interface with NISC’s technical team to effectively utilize the technical architecture available for system troubleshooting and analysis.
  • Collaborate within a technical team to identify alternatives and potentially assist with a solution.
  • Assist with verification of resolution of complex software issues.
  • Analyzes and captures business requirements and translates into sound design approaches for the purpose of software development.
  • Participate on design review boards and change review boards regarding proposed enhancements.

Desired Job Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in support, software development, implementation, or other roles related to NISC solutions.
  • Understanding of product usage or analyst experience either at NISC or similar related experience.
  • Research and problem-solving skills that include innovation and the ability to identify long-term solutions that enhance NISC Software Development Life Cycle practices.
  • Experience using SQL is a plus.
  • Knowledge in Linux and Microsoft Windows.
  • Knowledge of NISC’s Enterprise software applications and database structure.
  • Knowledge of other integrated applications and services.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong PC skills.
  • Ability to effectively lead, influence, teach and mentor others.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel as often as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the position.

Desired Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science, Information Systems, or a technology-related field.
