We’re growing quickly, and we’re looking for an experienced, driven Senior Account Executive, Federal & State Government to join our team and make a big impact.

As our first SAE, Federal & State Government, your mission will be to target government agencies and opportunities at all levels and expand Muck Rack’s government contracting footprint. You should be excited about building out a new function on the sales team and working closely with senior sales leadership on strategy and execution. You’ll be a great fit for this role if nurturing opportunities and engaging in complex contracting cycles is appealing and exciting.

What you’ll do:

  • Identify, develop, and close opportunities with Federal, State, and Local government agencies, offices, and elected officials
  • Monitor and respond to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portion of government sales leads
  • Achieve sales goals and meet activity quota requirements
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with government decision makers
  • Identify and use RFP database and management platforms
  • Partner with the VP of Sales and Sales Management to develop the strategic direction for Government Accounts
  • Work closely with Legal and Deal Desk on contract review and execution
  • Travel to lead onsite meetings with prospects up to 10% of your time (when possible)

  • 3 - 5 years sales experience, with 1 - 2 years of experience in government SaaS sales and RFP management
  • Experience demoing software, closing deals, and managing a pipeline
  • Experience cultivating government sales opportunities and responding to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs
  • Natural relationship builder who is personable, patient and dependable - you enjoy working with prospects, and they enjoy working with you
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal - you’re equally comfortable drafting an email, jumping on the phone, and leading meetings/presenting to large groups
  • Proactive in helping customers with long term planning - you’re a solutions-oriented problem solver who derives satisfaction from ensuring customer needs are met
  • Familiar with the tools we use, including Dropbox, HelloSign, Google Apps, Hubspot (or Salesforce), and Slack, and you learn how to use new tools quickly
  • Experience with contracting portals and government RFP software
  • Existing government relationships are helpful but not required

State Date:

Based on the interview plan above, we expect this process to take approximately 2.5-3 weeks. This can depend on the availability of candidates and our hiring team. The start date for this role is flexible. 

Salary:

The starting salary for this role is $85,000, with 170,000+ in OTE, depending on skills and experience. We take a geo-neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location. For all other countries, we have competitive pay bands based on market standards.
