We are seeking a Director, Public Affairs and Communications to expand and advance communications strategies and tactics, identify opportunities, and manage and direct public relations efforts at Metagenomi. Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer and in partnership with Investor Relations, the Director, Public Affairs and Communications will be responsible for managing Metagenomi’s brand identity, public communications, and PR calendar. This role will be in Emeryville, California.
How you’ll contribute:
- Develop corporate communications materials, press releases, Q&As, fact sheets, website content, executive talking points, social media materials, etc.
- Continue to build out and own support of conference and publication planning and conference SOP and guidelines
- In partnership with Investor Relations, contribute to the six and 12-month PR calendar
- Proactively review expected news flow with management teams in preparation for company announcements
- Become immersed with internal science updates and develop the ability to gauge data readiness in order to aide strategic planning of scientific milestones. With this, develop necessary communications plans to effectively share scientific updates with the public through the right medium, timing announcements to fall in line with the overarching corporate strategy
- Manage relationships with external agencies and communications partners
- Develop and execute a strategic vision that increases awareness of Metagenomi's overarching brand, upholds and enhances our corporate reputation, and strengthens our position as the leading industry partner and employer
- Ensure the strategy is integrated and consistently articulated to all the organization’s stakeholders, including leadership, employees, media, industry leaders/influencers, community leaders, partners, and the public
- Contribute to the execution of corporate and disease awareness initiatives to further company goals and objectives
- Develop and execute plans around employee engagement in the community as aligned with corporate strategy and our mission and vision
- Develop and uphold Company’s strategic messaging pillars, brand narrative, mission, vision, and values
- Assist in managing brand and visual identity, maintain and evolve brand guidelines.
What you bring:
- Undergraduate degree in the life sciences and at least eight years of progressive Communications experience (in-house and agency) in gene therapy, gene editing, or closely related life science field
- Strong scientific background and deep industry knowledge in therapeutic discovery and development
- Demonstrated ability to develop focused communication strategies and translatable actions across Public Affairs, Media, and Communications Initiatives
- Experience managing complex communications programs, including scientific journals, conferences, press releases, and brand management
- Experience leading diverse cross-functional teams
- A strong creative background, a solutions-oriented and collaborative mindset
- A highly collaborative and team-oriented approach to leadership, high self-awareness, and a passion for making a meaningful contribution to the field of genetic medicine through your work.
This position is classified as exempt under the Federal Labor Standards Act. The anticipated base salary range for this position will be $210,000 - $228,000 You will also be eligible to receive equity, bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered. Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
