What's the opportunity? 🤔

Intercom is seeking an experienced and motivated director to develop and lead our global analyst relations program. The Director of Analyst Relations will be responsible for communicating Intercom’s strategy and building relationships with influential industry analysts, with the ultimate goal of influencing analyst perception of Intercom’s business, technology and leadership position in the market. 

An ideal candidate has a proven track record of building analyst relationships and influencing analyst perception. This leader must have experience managing multiple high-stakes projects at once, a passion for technology, and ability to effectively communicate about our company and the market. This leader will collaborate with senior internal stakeholders including Executives, Product Management, Product Marketing, Comms and Business Operations to collaborate on and communicate our business and technology story.

 

What will I be doing? 🚀

This role reports to VP of Corporate Marketing, and is a rare opportunity to build an analyst relations program from the ground up. We’re looking for a strong leader who can strike the right balance between thoughtful strategy and impactful execution. This leader will have the opportunity to hire, mentor and lead a team of dedicated analyst relations professionals. 

  • Build and maintain relationships with key analysts by proactively communicating company and product news
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to build strategic engagements with relevant analysts
  • Bring successful track record of participation in major analyst research, including Gartner Magic Quadrants, Forrester Waves, etc. 
  • Understand and advise senior Intercom leaders about analysts' current perceptions about our company and our market 
  • Bring industry and competitive insight to internal teams through analyst briefings, inquiries, strategy days, events, metrics, and related results and tactics
  • Develop bench of Intercom spokespeople to participate in analyst engagements
  • Leverage Intercom customers to participate in analyst research, review programs, etc. 
  • Lead reporting, analysis and distribution of analyst reports to bring key insights to the organization 
  • Manage paid engagements with analysts, including subscriptions, speaking engagements, content creation
  • Experience partnering with B2B sales teams to navigate analyst engagements during a deal cycle
  • Hire, lead and develop analyst relations professionals to support the overall program

 

What skills do I need? 📖

The ideal candidate has:

  • 8-12 years of relevant B2B analyst relations and communications experience.
  • Direct experience in enterprise software industry and SaaS required, with international and high-growth startup experience preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of customer communications / customer engagement preferred.
  • Trusted relationships with analysts at Gartner, Forrester, IDC. 
  • Experience working directly with CEOs and C-level executives. Ability to engage with and influence senior executives, leadership and product teams with gravitas.
  • Ability to build relationships with internal partners to understand and communicate business strategy.
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and mentor multiple team members.
  • A growth mindset and passion for building high-functioning teams.
  • Ability to strike the right balance can strike between strategy and execution.
  • A strong, clear writing style and voice, with excellent writing and editing skills.
  • A detail-oriented, analytical approach, with the ability to manage multiple, high-profile projects and deliverables.
  • BS/BA degree.
