Building a team starts with valuing the team. We hire the best of the best to ensure you’re working with people you can constantly learn from. You’re trusted to get your work done your way while testing the limits of what’s possible and what’s next. And you’ll be part of a culture where everyone feels supported.
We also value sports. Not just because of the big wins and highlight-worthy plays, but because of the lasting impact sports can have: the lifelong lessons in teamwork and dedication; the influence of inspiring mentors; the priceless opportunities to play at the next level. Sports can change lives—that’s what we value.
Our team helps the world see sports differently through products that make it easier to capture video, analyze data, share highlights and do a lot more.
Ready to join us?
We’re looking for a Staff Engineer to join us and technically oversee the architecture, design and development of our hardware products portfolio, composed of autonomous cameras (Hudl Focus) and human performance trackers (WIMU) which work together seamlessly as an integrated, modular and scalable solution for sports. You will be the technical reference for solving our most difficult challenges and a role model on what quality and customer centricity means for engineers.
You Are
- Experienced in complex systems development. You have a strong background in designing complex systems with multiple modules interfacing with each other. You separate concerns and define well-abstracted interfaces, delivering performant, well-tested, maintainable modules with mapped failure modes.
- Expert in embedded systems electronics. You have a solid foundation in hardware engineering and good familiarity with embedded software. You have a track record of delivering state-of-the-art electronics designs, boards and products, taking ideas from cradle all the way through volume manufacturing.
- Able to transition from high to low levels of abstraction. You can create complete systems architecture and deep dive wherever needed. You can discuss problems and solutions with different types of stakeholders, ranging from non-technical executives to detail-oriented engineers.
- Capable of influencing without power. You are entrepreneurial and know how to navigate the organization to create impact. You bring key stakeholders onboard and steer the organization towards the best technological direction. You systematically evaluate the tradeoffs associated with each potential solution to a problem, make an informed decision, and articulate it well.
- A mentor. You take the time to make everyone around you smarter and more effective. You provide informal guidance, support, and feedback to help their professional growth and development.
- Pragmatic. Understand the balancing act between crafting a robust, lasting solution and getting work done.
- User-focused. Excited to have your work used by real people to solve real problems.
You Will
- Technically lead the system architecture and electronics development for our autonomous cameras and human performance trackers, ensuring that key technological choices are sound, reliable, scalable, and cost-effective.
- Drive for impact at the Business Unit level. You will work with cross function members and leaders to plan, develop, test, and ship great products. You will drive features and initiatives within our engineering team, and with many other teams we work with in the broader engineering organization at Hudl.
- Make dreams come true. Together with the Engineering Director, you will define the technology roadmap to enable the Product Roadmap, having a 3-5 years horizon.
- Be an integral part of the team. Everyone on the product team is responsible for quality, but you’ll show them the way.
- Strive for customer value delivery. Work closely with product management, marketing, and other stakeholders to understand customer requirements and provide feedback to the cross-functional team.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and assess their potential impact on our products and technology roadmap.
We Will
- Champion work-life harmony. We’ll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time above any required statutory leave, company-wide holidays and timeout (meeting-free) days, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.
- Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you’ll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
- Encourage career growth. We’re lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We’ll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
- Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you’re at the office or working remotely, we’ll provide you the tech you need to do your best work.
- Support your wellbeing. Depending on location, we offer medical and retirement benefits for employees—but no matter where you’re located, we have resources like our Employee Assistance Program and employee resource groups to support your mental health.
