Community Engagement Manager: Special Events & Brand Experience

Hillel at Arizona State University

Role Overview

Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Hillel at Arizona State University as the Community Engagement Manager focusing on Special Events & Brand Experience. We’re looking for a self-motivated individual with a deep willingness to take risks and be creative and bold.  As a member of our Student Impact team, you will play a key role in sustaining Hillel at ASU’s ambitious engagement success, reaching 1,000+ students annually. You will drive Hillel forward by thinking big and implementing our robust student engagement strategy.

This position requires strong time management, proven project management success, and excellent follow-through on a day-to-day basis. You will be integral to Hillel at ASU’s team by overseeing our marketing and communication channels, producing our largest programmatic efforts, and managing our student database. You will also be responsible for reporting our current successes and analyzing our areas of growth and opportunity. Serving in all of these capacities, you will directly or indirectly impact every Jewish student’s experience at ASU.

Our Hillel has grown rapidly and you’ll be joining a team that is eager to continue to grow, learn, and experiment every day. Speaking of experimentation, you’ll be doing this work at the #1 university for innovation; you won’t find anyone here telling you “we already tried that.” You will, however, find a data-informed organization committed to providing high-quality experiences that meet a diverse and expansive student population.

What You’ll Do

Strategy & Development

  • Strategic Planning: In collaboration with our AD, execute and evaluate Hillel at ASU’s strategy for connecting with and impacting the full arc of student participation including:
    • Making an impact on students' lives during key moments - from welcome week to graduation, and all Jewish and campus key dates in between
    • “Breadth moments” (our largest programmatic and engagement initiatives, seeing 200-300+ at each program/initiative)
  • Program Oversight: Based on observation of our current systems and conversations with student and staff leaders, create and document program processes that will provide a structured framework. You will help guide staff and student leaders through each stage of program development, implementation, and evaluation while fostering clarity, consistency, and accountability throughout the entire process.
  • Data Management: Power our data-informed decisions and iterative student engagement strategies by overseeing the collection, maintenance, and reporting of student engagement data, and spearheading analysis, in partnership with Hillel International.

    • Manage our social media scheduling software
    • Run our texting communication platform
    • Publish weekly content (such as our newsletter and weekly event marketing needs)
    • Execute large-scale marketing campaigns (such as high holidays and signature socials) to increase our brand awareness and expand our reach across digital platforms.
  • Calendaring: Manage our comprehensive week-to-week programming calendar towards our goals of diverse and balanced programming, ensuring our internal calendars are accurately updated and reflected on our external communication channels.
  • Program Production:
    • In collaboration with student leaders, curate, produce, and manage our four largest signature socials, as well as key community-wide Shabbat dinners, and all holiday celebrations. These are highlight moments of the year and you will be responsible for overseeing the project management from ideation to execution.
    • Serve as our “Event Manager” overseeing the behind-the-scenes of large breadth moments.
    • Examples include: creating event “run of show” flow charts, coordinating staff and student leadership involvement, managing the registration process, and communicating with our external vendors.
  • Finance: Alongside our Assistant Director, manage a programming budget of $300,000+
  • Team Collaboration: Troubleshoot daily program operations that arise and assist the Student Impact Team in finding suitable solutions.
    • Examples include: a staff member needing to adjust marketing that is scheduled to go up that day or identify a new kosher catering system.
