At Hillel BC, we're seeking a dynamic individual to join our vibrant community of student leaders and support the growing population of Jewish students at UVic. As the Lead Campus Professional, you'll have the unique opportunity to shape the future by nurturing and empowering student leaders. From conceptualizing engaging programs to fostering connections within the broader Jewish community of Victoria, you'll play a pivotal role in enriching the university experience for Jewish students. What You’ll Do

  • Cultivating one-on-one relationships with Jewish students by meeting them where they live, work, and/or study, utilizing creative methods to engage them in Jewish life
  • Ensuring all aspects of programming responsibilities are functioning smoothly - from content to logistics
  • Working closely with the student boards, and facilitating program planning meetings with student leaders
  • Mentoring students through individual and group training with the goal of cultivating a caring, diverse and welcoming community for students of all backgrounds
  • Developing programs that enrich the lives of Jewish students as part of Hillel’s overall education strategy
  • Involved in all community-wide programming for our campuses including Shabbat and Holiday dinners, campus specific lunches and programs, as well as social and fundraising initiatives (some travel will be required)
  • Supporting student-initiated programs and serving as a Jewish resource to students and groups on campus
  • Prepare for and respond effectively to anti-Israel and antisemitic incidents, collaborating closely with the Campus Director and the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) to maintain a supportive and safe environment for all students.
  • Support and empower students in their Israel and Jewish advocacy objectives in a way which allows them to amplify their voices and impact.

What You’ll Bring to the Job

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with group of diverse backgrounds and ability to cultivate one-on-one relationships in a professional manner
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate across teams with a strong skill in both verbal and written communication.
  • A strong knowledge of Jewish history, holidays, customs and traditions
  • Experience at cooking for large crowed is highly suggested
  • Access to a vehicle is required

What You’ll Receive

  • Competitive salary in the non-profit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $50,000 CAD- $55,000 CAD.

Please note: In order to best serve the student population Hillel B.C. is open during all Jewish Holidays and approximately 2 Shabbats a month.
