Gusto is growing our Accounting team and looking for a dynamic and self-motivated accountant to uplevel our Accounts Payable function! You'll be a vital contributor in the day to day operations of our business and will work with cross-functional teams to scale our business efficiently and sustainably.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
Empower and support Accounts Payable teammate(s) and their continuous professional development
Manage full cycle Accounts Payable (“AP”) and departmental credit card program
Level up the A/P function by identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement that will support the business at scale
Identify internal controls in key processes as well as opportunities to improve upon the existing control framework. Drive toward a robust and controlled environment for all A/P workstreams.
Contribute to and drive the redesign of vendor onboarding at Gusto
Provide expertise on the AP processing, recording, and reporting of accounts payable transactions; review vendor invoices, vendor setup, 1099 reporting, and general ledger reports to ensure proper coding.
Manage the accounts payable monthly close process (reviews, reconciliations, accruals, analysis, reporting)
Support external auditor requests, including research and analysis of audit questions
Review journal entries as part of month end close process
Review and optimize current processes and procedures through continued integration of systems and enhanced automation
Perform special projects or other duties as requested.
Here’s what we're looking for:
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant work experience
Previous experience managing a team
Bachelor Degree or other similar professional accreditation
Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, with a track record of successfully working with cross-functional business stakeholders
Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with NetSuite, Bill.com and Expensify highly desirable
Proficient with Excel (vlookup, pivot, etc.)
