Grammarly is excited to offer a remote-first hybrid working model. Team members can work primarily remotely in the United States, Canada, Ukraine, Germany, Poland, and Portugal. Conditions permitting, teams will meet in person a few weeks every quarter at one of Grammarly's hubs, currently in San Francisco, Kyiv, New York, Vancouver, and Berlin, or in a shared workspace in Krakow.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for an experienced Back-End Software Engineer to join the Engineering team for Grammarly Business. The Grammarly Business team is building solutions for small business and enterprise customers to bring the power of Grammarly to all their employees. We are currently building powerful self-service tools for users and admins, with large ambitions to build tools that directly help improve communication in the workplace. Your impact
As a Back-End Software Engineer, Grammarly Business, you will have many opportunities for growth and ownership as we move fast to build solutions for businesses and their employees. Grammarly Business is a fast-growing team and company priority in 2022.
In this role, you will:
- Start building and pushing code in your first week and ship important features in your first few months.
- Build and support production services with high call rates.
- Target high availability for enterprise customers.
- Learn how to build infrastructure as code.
- Collaborate widely with internal teams to deliver delightful product offerings to our customers.
- Contribute to an engineering culture with a strong emphasis on documentation, testing, metrics, and user experience.
- Evaluate the systems and technology in place today while proposing systems and architecture that can scale for the future.
- Have the opportunity to mentor new hires.
We’re looking for someone who
- Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
- Is able to collaborate in person 2–4 weeks per quarter, traveling if necessary to the hub where the team is based.
- Has 6+ years of experience working in a highly scalable consumer product or enterprise SaaS environment.
- Has experience with AWS or other cloud offerings (GCP, Azure, etc.).
- Has a solid knowledge of Java and has used it to build microsystems running in the cloud.
- Has—as a plus—experience with AWS and Terraform.
- Has experience building, deploying, and debugging production systems at scale.
- Has practical experience working with various database technologies and doing data migrations in production environments.
- Cares about the end-user experience and strives to ensure high quality.
- Has worked with Spark or other Big Data technologies in the past.

- For Colorado-based employment: The salary range for this position is $111,000 – $239,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
