Job Purpose:

The world's largest and most influential energy event, is seeking a Vice President to play a pivotal role in driving the event's strategic and operational success. As the VP, you will work directly under the supervision of the Senior Vice President, focusing on organic, profitable growth and ensuring the event's alignment with industry-leading practices.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Independently manage specific departments including the Awards and the Special Projects Team, enabling both you and the SVP to concentrate more effectively on departmental responsibilities.
  • Drive the operations of the event in collaboration with the central Operations Department, crafting an operations strategy that enhances function and visual appeal of the exhibition, conference, and featured experiences in line with budget expectations.
  • Support the SVP by managing key aspects of the event including budgeting, financial management, and regular project reporting in addition to overseeing sponsorship and delegate sales to ensure strong growth in these areas, contributing to the commercial profitability of the event.
  • Maintain and oversee relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective collaboration and communication across all levels.
  • Lead the team by example, fostering a culture of strategic thinking and effective implementation of initiatives that are aligned with the events strategic objectives.

Qualifications and Experience:

 

Strong background in events marketing and commercial management within the events industry.

•                Proven expertise in project management, operational strategies, and their implementation.

•                Ability to develop and execute strategies that enhance event experience following a defined narrative, thereby   ensuring a cohesive and engaging attendee experience.

•                Excellent relationship-building skills, with the capacity to engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including customers, consultants, advisors, think tanks, and key opinion leaders in the energy sector.

Technical / Functional

•                Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects to tight deadlines

•                Financial and commercial awareness

•                Extensive experience in international B2B conference sponsorship, delegate and exhibition sales, ideally in the energy sector

•                Ability to create and manage a sales pipeline/budget/P&L – provide weekly reports with an accurate forecast

•                Experience in the use of databases (preferably Salesforce) in both mass and targeted sales campaigns

•                Knowledge of the energy industry a distinct advantage

•                Excellent negotiation and relationship building skills

•                Customer focused

•                Excellent command of written and spoken (business) English – other languages could be an advantage.

•                Sound commercial awareness, excellent organisational skills

•                Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

•                Solid numeric abilities and experience with quantitative analysis
