Democracy Prep Public Schools seeks a Payroll Specialist who will be responsible for all payroll-related tasks. Working with the Finance and Human Resource teams, the Payroll Specialist will ensure that payroll is processed accurately and in a timely manner.

A problem solver who is eager to grow and learn and understands generally accepted accounting principles and payroll practices
An expert in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel), with some knowledge of SAGE Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics or another financial management/ ERP software system.
A flexible professional with experience in finance and multi-organization structures who will be able to support our campuses across the country.
A college graduate.
Prior experience in a nonprofit or charter school environment is a plus.
What You’ll Do
Process accurate and timely payroll for Democracy Prep employees
Collect, enter, and update data into payroll and administrative databases in partnership with the Human Resources and Finance teams
Maintain and document all payroll records accurately
Ensure records and processes comply with Democracy Prep and legal regulations
Preparing and processing paychecks and cash deposits
Manage and resolve any issues related to payroll, including responding to and resolving payroll-related inquiries from employees
Perform account balance and payroll reconciliations
Prepare accurate payroll reports and financial statements for accounting and auditing purposes
