As a School Leadership Resident, you will engage in a yearlong experiential leadership development program that will prepare you to lead in a Bezos Academy with children ages three through five as part of a growing multi-state network of high quality, tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschools in under-resourced communities. After initial onboarding, you will embark on an intensive training program on topics such as curriculum, finance, operations, and talent management to build essential knowledge and an understanding of the Montessori pedagogy to prepare you for an in-school placement.

You will be immersed in a single school for the majority of your residency and paired with a Head of School who will guide you and model day-to-day roles and responsibilities. This time includes observing, shadowing, and gradually executing leadership. During this unique job-embedded experience, you will also receive synchronous and asynchronous professional learning from Bezos Academy’s School Leadership Development team and learn from other school leaders in your region/state. The intentional structure and alignment between training sessions and application of learning throughout the year provides the opportunity to learn by doing as you gain experience essential for leading early childhood education and Montessori programs.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be ready to lead as an Assistant Head of School or Head of School in an operating Bezos Academy site. Should a vacancy not be immediately available you would be eligible to serve as a regional administrator for up to six additional months, adding capacity to various schools in your area, or to apply to other positions at Bezos Academy. Throughout the Residency, you will receive mentorship and experiential development that will prepare you to lead at a higher level in service of children for the rest of your career. You will report directly to the District School Leader.
