👋 Hi, I'm Margaret, Accounting Manager at Customer.io. I'm looking for an Accounts Payable Lead to join our Business Operations team. As Accounts Payable Lead, you’ll work together with the Accounting Manager and Senior Controller to support and maintain the financial needs of the company. You will oversee and optimize our accounts payable and procurement processes. Your leadership will be crucial in ensuring financial compliance and efficiency.

Some things you’ll do:

Accounts Payable and Procurement Management:

  • Manage and perform all accounts payable-related work, ensuring accurate transaction coding and timely processing of vendor invoices while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the implementation of Airbase’s procurement management system, including working with cross-functional stakeholders during implementation, training staff, and preparing documentation outlining the new tool and related processes.
  • Manage procurement activities, including managing purchase orders, ensuring appropriate approvals and documents are obtained, communicating with vendors and staff, and assisting with contract negotiations.
  • Manage our 200+ credit cards, including setting up and suspending credit cards, reviewing, accurately coding, and promptly posting credit card charges, and ensuring policy compliance.
  • Implement and conduct regular reviews of policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance, efficiency, and strong financial controls.

Accounting, Analysis, and Other:

  • Assist with various month and year-end closing tasks including reconciling bank accounts, prepaid expenses and fixed assets, and accruing expenses.
  • Manage our travel platform, Navan, ensuring adequate controls are in place and that it efficiently and effectively supports staff in relation to their travel, as well as the finance, accounting, and people departments who are all involved with company travel.
  • Prepare financial reports and analyses related to travel expenses, and general accounts payable and procurement items, highlighting trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate financial data into business planning and forecasting activities.
  • Communicate effectively, timely, proactively, and courteously with internal and external parties to provide guidance and answer questions, share insights to support informed decision-making, request support or compliance, build and maintain relationships, address/avoid errors or issues, and facilitate overall smooth operations.
  • Prepare and file 1099s.
  • Assist with audit and tax engagements.
  • Drive and contribute to special projects as needed within the accounting team.

We’re looking for someone who has/is…

  • Located within UTC -8 to UTC -5 time zones.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated management of accounts payable and related areas.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, accounts payable and procurement best practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in using procurement tools. Added bonus if you have experience with implementing them.
  • Proficiency in accounting and ERP software (e.g., Netsuite).
  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of driving process improvements and cost savings initiatives.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across departments.
