Coactive makes it easy to search, filter, and analyze visual content. Increasingly image and video data captures the content we watch, the products we buy, and the work we do, and already represents 80% of internet traffic. But rather than being an asset, visual content is often a tax or even a liability because it is so hard to work with and understand. Coactive solves this by bringing structure to unstructured visual data. Rather than spending months (or years) building complex infrastructure, data teams can unlock the value of their visual data in minutes to power use cases such as content understanding and moderation, search, and analytics.

Coactive was founded by experts who shaped the fields of high-performance deep learning and data-centric AI. We have the scars from building and working with the first generation of modern machine learning systems at Google, Meta, Pinterest, eBay, Lyft, and other leading organizations. Through our decades of experience, we have developed a playbook to democratize the toughest parts of machine learning systems; no PhD required.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work with one of Forbes' top 50 AI companies, backed by key investors such as Andreesen Horowitz and Bessemer Ventures. This position is truly a chance to be part of a category-defining team that is attracting top-tier talent interested in pushing the boundaries of what's possible in AI.

Job Description:

We’re looking for a scrappy, hands-on marketing leader to work in lockstep with our small sales team to figure out what’s working, replicate it, then build the marketing team to scale it. We’ve closed our initial set of enterprise customers (household names), are hiring a sales leader, and getting the go-to-market machine going. This is a classic, early-stage marketing role. We are doing the work together. We are figuring it out and building. It’s busy, impactful, and we are learning every single day.

Success in this role will look like developing repeatable pipeline generation programs that help us start conversation in the Fortune 100, primarily in media & entertainment and retail & e-commerce where we’ve been seeing early signs of success.

To do this, you’ll work closely with the founders, sales, and product teams. You’ll get to know our customers, the problems we solve for them, and become knowledgeable about the category of multimodal AI. You’ll be a founding member of the go-to-market org at Coactive.

What will make this person incredibly successful over the next 18 months:

  • Drive Revenue. Be a daily, in-the-weeds partner with sales to close target accounts. You’ll know every account in the pipeline and the key players, you’ll support on deck creation, content assets, and messaging with an eye toward taking what is working in one account and applying it to the next. You’ll use data to inform what gets prioritized and acted on.
  • Generate pipeline. Manage our list of target accounts and the systems needed to find key people within those accounts, iterate on the best messaging needed to help us get meetings at these companies. We sell into the Fortune 500 and success in this role will require strategic, 1:1 account outreach.
  • Grow and develop the marketing team. The first 6 months of this role will be hands-on doing the work. As we prove initial success, we'll be looking for this person to hire team members and establish scalable programs and channels.
  • Cement Coactive as a leader in multimodal AI, particularly in the industry segments where we’re gaining traction. You’ll partner with Product leadership to stay on top of emerging competitors and changes in the market to ensure we are appropriately positioning our product (both in messaging and what we build). You’ll own all aspects of our story – from website to PR to campaigns.
  • Lead in alignment with our values. You’ll act as a leader on the Coactive team, using data and best practices to advocate for projects, resource allocation, and hiring. You’ll give and receive feedback and be a model of our company values.

Our ideal candidate for this role likely has the following experience:

  • You’ve operated successfully in startup environments.
Why this matters: We’re actively building the systems to scale go-to-market. We need someone who can get things done in an environment with limited resources, direct our energy toward high-impact work, and be relentless in pursuing outcomes. We expect that our ideal candidate in this role will have been at a successful startup and seen the evolution from startup to scaleup.

  • You’ve supported a sales org selling a technical product into the enterprise.
Why this matters: Coactive is a high contract value product with a 6+ month sales cycle and a large buying committee spanning executives, technical leaders, and business strategists. We expect to find success with strategic account based marketing approaches. Particularly marketers that have sold technical products before or have experience in the AI space.

  • You can shift across strategy, operations, and execution.
Why this matters: This role reports directly to a founder and CEO whose time will always be in short supply. Success in this role will require you to manage up, out, and down. You’ll need to know your way around HubSpot and SFDC, work effectively with junior SDRs, and bring creativity to your approach. You’ll both make the plan, gather resources needed to implement it, and then make it happen.

Major in demand generation with a minor in product messaging.
Why this matters: Building our ability as a team to create pipeline is a critical focus area for us. Doing this will require someone who is obsessive about figuring out what is working and how we can repeat it. You’ll need to be hands-on in the day-to-day of each account to know what  offers and messages are resonating.

What you can expect from us:

  • This is a hybrid position based in San Jose, California.
  • The estimated annual base salary for this position is between $195,000 - $234,000*
  • At Coactive, cash salary is only one part of our total compensation package. Other benefits for this position include, but are not limited to: Equity grants
  • 100% medical, dental, & vision coverage for you
  • Medical, dental, & vision partially covered for your dependents
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Social events ranging from book clubs, happy hours, and hiking to board game nights.

We embrace and celebrate the diversity of our employees. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ethnicity, ancestry, religion, national origin, gender, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital or parental status, disability, veteran status, or other class protected by applicable law. Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
