Archer is an aerospace company based in Palo Alto, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What You’ll Do
Build, mentor and inspire a world class team with expertise in the full life cycle development of computing platforms for avionics and fly-by-wire systems
Lead and mentor a multi-disciplinary team designing fault tolerant computing architectures, developing board support packages, drivers, shared libraries, and integrating software components from internal teams and suppliers
Establish strong partnerships with suppliers to develop innovative hardware platforms and procure COTS software like RTOS
Define and document streamlined processes supporting the certification of safety critical systems complying with applicable industry standards (ARP-4754A, DO-178C, DO-297, etc.)
Propose and manage budgets and resources for the team, define roadmaps and schedules, organize and prioritize the work, track and communicate progress
Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPI), continuously monitor and improve our processes to ensure compliance, and increase safety and efficiency
Foster team collaboration, promote and support personal development
What You Need
10+ years of experience in a related field
2+ year experience as a hiring manager
Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace or related field
Deep understanding of computer architecture, embedded software, RTL designs, and aerospace communication standards and protocols (RS-422/485, CAN, Ethernet, ARINC 429, AFDX/ARINC 664, TSN, TCP/IP, etc)
Good knowledge of ARP4754A, DO-254, and DO-178C standards
Understanding of Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) concepts and standards (DO-297, ARINC-653)
Strong background using Polarion, DOORS or similar requirements management tools
Excellent technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
Degree in engineering management, technical management, or business administration
Experience with Model Based System Engineering (SysML/UML)
Experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies
