Archer is an aerospace company based in Palo Alto, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop a quality control system that is compliant with 14 CFR 21.137 in accord with  FAA Order 8120.23A to meet the needs of the Archer and can be extended to external suppliers or vendors
  • Develop the organizational structure and build/hire the quality team
  • Supervise Quality Engineers(QE), Quality Inspectors (QI) and Quality Support Staff (QSS) in various departments
  • Develop and implement Audit plans and Process Control plans
  • Collaborate with Engineering and operations teams to create and maintain up-to-date product or process specifications
  • Develop experimental project processes and standardized manufacturing processes to ensure the required quality and documentation standards are achieved
  • Document production and engineering experimental build results and analyze them to identify quality improvement opportunities
  • Provide quality reports as required showing trends and corrective actions
  • Perform audits of any company quality systems and make plans or processes for necessary improvements
  • Train employees on quality assurance standards, expectations and processes

What you need:

  • 10+ years of experience with BS, or 8+ years of experience with MS as a Quality Manager or equivalent position in light aircraft or rotorcraft manufacturing
  • BS / MS in Engineering, Quality Control or related fields
  • Strong analytical and management background with a deep understanding of quality control engineering and inspection for fixed-wing aircraft and/or rotorcraft
  • Experience working on Part 23, 25, 27, or 29 certification projects with MIDO oversight
  • Experience with ISO Quality Standards, Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), Auditing, Project Management, Risk Management, Statistical Process Control, Theory of Constraints, Metrology and Inspection
  • Experience working with the FAA under an approved Production Certificate (PC)

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Production Certificate (PC) ODA experience
  • FAA authorization as a DAR-T or DAR-F
  • eVTOL experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Training/Certification
  • Certifications in Quality Inspection/Engineering/Management
  • Understand legal, health and safety standards for the business and ensure that such standards are met
