Who we are: 

Archer is an aerospace company based in Palo Alto, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the development of safety critical software components for the flight control system, including battery management systems and actuators
  • Work with system architects to decompose item requirements into high level and low level software requirements in compliance with DO-178C
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and integrate complex hardware/software systems
  • Participate in rapid prototyping activities to develop and mature new technologies
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes to increase safety and efficiency

What you need:

  • 7+ years of experience in a related field
  • Degree in Computer Science
  • Proficiency with C/C++
  • Fluency with widely used scripting languages like bash and Python
  • Experience developing software complying with safety standards like DO-178C or ISO 26262
  • Experience developing software on bare-metal systems and Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • Deep understanding of communication standards and protocols (RS-422/485, CAN, ARINC-429, AFDX, Ethernet, TCP/IP, SPI, I2C, PCIe etc…)
  • Experience with board bring up and driver development
  • Ability to comprehend components datasheets and schematics
  • Familiarity with debuggers and lab instruments such oscilloscopes and bus analyzers
  • Linux as your favorite development environment
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Bonus qualifications

  • Experience working on software for Electric Vehicles (EV) powertrains is a plus
  • Experience with VHDL and/or Verilog development
  • Familiarity with modeling tools like UML or SysML
