Archer is an aerospace company based in Palo Alto, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 60 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a team of pilots supporting the development and certification of Archer’s piloted eVTOL aircraft
  • Collaborate with the engineering and human factors teams on the development and evaluation of the cockpit and pilot interface
  • Support the Certification team through all aspects of Type Certification
    • Author and/or review Flight Test Plans with associated Company/Certification Reports
    • Evaluate FAA eVTOL guidance and develop unique certification requirements for Archer’s flight test program (examples: stability and control, handling qualities performance, hover and transitional flight) with AC 23-8C - Flight Test Guide for Certification of Part 23 Airplanes
    • Flight Test program planning to include Function & Reliability testing
  • Collaborate with the Systems Engineering team to develop a safety program per FAA Order 4040.9 for a certified aircraft
  • Lead the Flight Test Risk Management Program in compliance with FAA Order 4040.26 for the flight test program
  • Design and implement a pilot training program for a novel eVTOL aircraft
  • Work with the Flight Test team to complete testing of an autonomous unmanned aircraft
    • Serve as remote PIC during flight test events

What you need:

  • 5+ years experience in flight test as a test pilot
  • Graduate of an accredited Test Pilot School
  • Experience with FAA airworthiness certifications and requirements
  • FAA airline transport pilot (ATP) or unrestricted commercial pilot license with multi-engine rating and instrument flight rating
  • At least FAA Class II medical certificate

Bonus Qualifications:

  • FAA DER - Flight Test Pilot and/or Flight Analyst
  • Flight experience with both fixed and rotary wing aircraft
  • Familiarity with EASA, Transport Canada (TCCA) and/or ANAC Brazil certifications and requirements
