Job Description

Alma’s Director of People Operations and Culture will be responsible for all people related activities across the organization. As Alma prepares for exciting and rapid growth, this role will be critical in designing and executing on a talent strategy that will allow the company to scale effectively. Reporting to the CFO, this role will act as the champion for company culture, as well as setting up HR process and compliance for a growing business. As a key member of the team, this role will work closely with the executive team to strategize ways to recruit, scale and engage Alma employees.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the People Operations Lead and manage the day to day operations of the HR department.
  • Build and implement a HR and talent strategy that informs decision making and aligns with company objectives
  • Responsible for building a talent acquisition function that sets the company up to be able to scale efficiently and effectively
  • Directly manage an in-house Recruiter, ensuring that the hiring demands of the company are met
  • Prioritize a diverse and inclusive company culture through recruiting, training, policies, and conversation
  • Develop and maintain programs for onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, and learning and development
  • Partner cross-functionally with people leaders to develop employees and build high performing teams
  • Proactively and thoughtfully address workplace and employee relations issues on an individual and systematic basis
  • Develop programs to help new people leaders learn and grow as the company scales
  • Act as a trusted employee advocate, mediator, and coach
  • Take the lead on people related issues and policies across the company, including for both exempt and nonexempt employees
  • Ensure organizational compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree and HR certification (PHR, SPHR) preferred
  • 5+ years of HR generalist or business partner experience, with 2+ years people management experience required
  • Talent Acquisition/Recruiting experience highly preferred
  • Experience working within an organization with an established process and system for hiring great talent
  • Comfortable in both a strategic role, and the ability to roll up your selves to get the job done
  • Exceptional listening skills and the ability to build trust across all levels of an organization
  • Advanced knowledge of employment law and general HR best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; success in advocating and getting necessary buy-in for programs
  • Data driven; ability to use data in decision making
  • Experience managing and building HR strategy for both exempt and nonexempt employees
