The Team

The Digital Merchandising Product team is enabling companies to optimize their business metrics by personalizing and curating search and discovery experiences mapped to the shopper journey. This new team will develop a solution dedicated to Algolia’s main vertical: Digital Commerce.

We have ambitious goals ahead of us, including building several new products on top of Algolia existing APIs and capabilities.

We will solve the problems companies are facing when they adopt a Composable Commerce architecture, by allowing Business users to leverage a set of tools (AI models, rules-engine, analytics, and more) in a unified programmable interface.

The Opportunity
As a member of the Digital Merchandising team:

  • You will have a direct impact on Algolia’s user adoption and revenue stream 
  • You will play a pivotal role in architecting and implementing new products, that will play a central role for the future of Algolia 
  • You will be in the driver seat to innovate in the multi-billion dollar market eCommerce industry

Your role will consist of: 

  • Be a key contributor to the design, development, and operation of the Merchandising API at scale
  • Be responsible for the quality, reliability and availability of the system
  • Work with other teams to build features and resolve high impact issues

You might be a fit if you have:

  • Experience building and working with APIs at scale preferably in Golang
  • Rigor in high code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices
  • Good spoken and written English skills
  • Preference for candidates with experience at our current stage and beyond (over 10,000 customers, $200-500M ARR range, high growth, lots of change and building internal infrastructure).

Nice to have:

  • Experience in Rails, C++
  • Fullstack experience
  • Experience working with large datasets and high traffic
  • Experience in Site Reliability Engineering
  • Experience in Kubernetes based deployments

Remote Strategy

Algolia’s workplace strategy, Hybrid Remote, is designed to harness the power of the opportunities that remote work offers both employees and the company, while also providing an engaging in-office experience for the times when an employee is in an office. Our workplace approach reflects the belief that an employee’s impact, contribution, and output are more important than their physical location.

The candidate will be able to choose if, and when, they come into an office on a regular basis. There will be times when our people are asked to come into an office for “moments that matter:” activities like critical planning meetings and team social gatherings.  Beyond those events, 80% of our workforce may choose the location from where they work in the country in which they were hired.

We have physical offices in San Francisco, NYC, Atlanta, Paris, London, Bucharest, and we will be opening a small office in Austin soon.
