The Role

This position involves critical duties and responsibilities that must continue to be performed during crises and contingency operations, requiring extended work hours. In this position, Addepar is looking for a manager who can lead a team of engineers with a focus on site reliability and performance. The team will be agile that move smart and fast by consuming and optimizing readily available technology, collaborating to improve and scale capabilities across business and use cases to ensure high availability and stability of the production environments. This leadership opportunity is to work on hard problems across various domains with an experienced team of Site Reliability and Software engineers by providing reliable, resilient, recoverable, and repeatable technology solutions across Addepars Platform infrastructure. 

What You’ll Do

  • Extensive experience leading teams responsible for customer-facing systems in a high uptime 24-7 environment
  • Expertise in analyzing the sophisticated application, database, network, and OS issues across a distributed large scale business-critical system
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills - Lead by example to empower and challenge the team to deliver their best.
  • Strong Experience leading multi-functional initiatives and thought leadership
  • Administration and oversight of tasks, quality, and delivery of SRE staff Projects and work requests 
  • Track record of building and running high-performance teams
  • 5+ years management experience leading teams of engineers and experience with performance analysis of large-scale cloud-based application systems.
  • 3+ years experience delivering high SLA production outcomes in a Public Cloud environment - leveraging cloud-native architectures to build and manage resilient, highly available infrastructures that deliver customer outcomes with high SLAs
  • Strong experience in driving partnership between SRE, Dev, and QE teams towards delivering excellent customer outcomes - managing above the level of infrastructure to deliver great customer outcomes
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders as part of a broad organizational product development leadership team that focuses on ensuring and delivering customer value
  • Strong expertise in managing production incidents, with experience driving for resolution and stakeholder communication during incidents. The candidate should be adept at prioritizing multiple issues in a high-pressure environment
  • Experience with SRE tools, processes, and culture. An ideal candidate would have experience leading through an SRE transformation - leading “ops” focused teams to develop engineering capabilities that improve the ability to deliver at scale
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills - Lead by example to motivate and challenge the team to deliver their best
  • Should be able to understand sophisticated architectures and be comfortable working with multiple teams
  • Participate, present, and speak to KPI and OKR metrics and uptime performance data in management and executive-level debriefs
  • Create system requirements, design system architecture, and develop an application framework.

Who You Are

  • Experience managing, leading and mentoring high performing engineers and operations support staff
  • Experience participating in various stages of the full software life cycle, including requirement analysis, functional solution design, test case preparation, development management, functional testing, and delivery management.
  • Experience with navigating DevOps teams and organizations past startup/mid-size agile culture towards enterprise majority model Improving reliability with automation, chaos testing, and process improvement
  • Experience designing and operating distributed systems and cloud infrastructure at scale
  • Experience working collaboratively with development engineering teams in CICD lifecycle 
  • Interest or experience implementing and iterating on the process to improve outcomes with minimal disruption to team culture
  • Expertise in defining or operating to establish corporate compliance policies, standards, procedures, supporting industry best practices and standards (Soc2, ISO27001, FINRA)
  • Interest or experience working across multiple stakeholders to drive effective change
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, and ability to function and communicate under pressure Participate and lead efforts involving incident response and root cause analysis for Site Reliability Engineering
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
