The World Surf League is seeking a narrative-driven, passionate and innovative Associate Social Media Producer to join our Content Strategy & Social team. This position will report directly into the Social Media Manager. This position will be responsible mainly supporting the creation, editing and social publishing of our visual assets across our social channels; reflective of social media strategy and broader content/marketing strategies. The position will be responsible for supporting in identifying, developing and executing concepts in and out of live competition coverage. Understanding of key narrative elements and specific formats to share them amongst multiple social channels will be a critical backbone to the role’s collaboration with the team. You will have the incredible chance to shape the WSL's presence in the global surfing community through intuitive and proactive planning, producing, scheduling and publishing content mainly focused on Instagram and TikTok as well as Facebook and X.

In a global sport, this team member will need to possess versatility, adaptability, extreme organization, and knowledge of both current social and surfing landscapes. The position will be local with light travel included in alignment without yearly competition calendar. This role is located in Brazil. 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Identify, Develop and Publish content that champion’s the WSL’s values in supporting our global audiences and viewership
  • Proactively build consistent content for our key narratives; inclusive of surfer-first and personality driven, from planning through execution; ultimately bringing our social strategies and goals to fruition
  • Ensure our social content production quality is consistent and optimized for channel nuances
  • Supports Social Media Manager + broader content team in live event coverage with graphics, video editing, community management, and live publishing
  • Assists Social Media Manager in planning, developing and scheduling social media posts in alignment to specific campaign initiatives and larger strategies
  • Assist in Creative Development of Bespoke and Production Design Graphics Assets & Templates
  • Assists in managing off-channel creator, filmers and photographers relevant to social-specific projects to support the Championship Tour
  • Cultivate communities, engage with followers, creators, and influencers through comments, direct messages and adaptable content
  • Asset in content creation for various elements of the organization, including WSL One Ocean and Partnerships 
  • Supports in the management of our Social Contribution Distribution softwares with Surfers and Partners

Collaborate and seeks latest video & productions trends with the team; both challenging the status quo and being open minded to test new concepts

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-5+ years of experience in social media and content creation
  • Working proficiency of Adobe Premiere, After Effect, Photoshop and Illustrator 
  • Understanding of social-first editing processes, formats [Vertical first], sequencing and best practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience editing in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and composition with a strong passion for storytelling
  • Willingness to learn and work collaboratively.
  • Ability to speak and write English/Portuguese at a Professional Working Level
  • Passion for professional surfing
  • Motion design experience, a plus
  • Capcut experience, a plus
  • Able and willing to travel up to 30% of the time both domestically and internationally 
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours, including late nights and weekends
