The WSL is a truly global sports and media company with regional offices in Australia, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, and Europe.
In 2016, Kelly Slater Wave Company (KSWC), joined the WSL as an innovative wave technology company. KSWC is the first to develop a formula that combines cutting-edge science, engineering, and design to create the longest, open-barrel, high-performance wave in existence.
In 2018, WSL announced the creation of WSL Studios, focused on being the home of live competitive surf content and the premier place to create short-form, TV series, documentaries and feature films oriented around surfing, surf-lifestyle and ocean conservancy.

The Associate Counsel will be an integral member of the Legal team who will be responsible for preparing, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of agreements and will provide support on various projects within the Legal department.
This role reports directly into the General Counsel. Based on business and team priorities, the successful candidate should be based in Los Angeles, California, in a hybrid working environment. This role will include three days in-office (El Segundo).
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Draft, negotiate and interpret complex agreements and other legal documents, primarily supporting our US and worldwide events team.

Summary:
The Boat Captain has the responsibility for the overall delivery of the watersports experience at the lake including operation of the boat and equipment This may also include instruction of watersports while ensuring the guest’s safety and enjoyment of their experience. This position will also be required to perform light maintenance and cleaning of equipment and supplies
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Ensure delivery of exceptional guest experience for all guests.

The Director of People will lead and manage all HR functions for both KSWC and Surf Ranch, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance with state and federal regulations. The Surf Ranch Hospitality Server team is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience by serving meals and refreshments throughout the day. Under the direct supervision of the Food & Beverage Manager and Supervisor, servers perform a range of duties both in guest-facing and behind-the-scenes capacities. These include serving food, clearing dishes, and engaging with guests. Additionally, servers work closely with the Cooks and Sous Chef to ensure food quality, communicate guest preferences, and address dietary restrictions or allergies.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Adhere to all departmental standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure the timely delivery of all food and beverage needs at Surf Ranch
- Serve food & drinks and remove dishes and glassware after use
- Help wash dishes and glassware after mealtimes

- Vacuums, sweeps, mops, and cleans flooring in lodging accommodations and common areas

Surf RanchLifeguardWave Co. Lemoore
The Lifeguard plays a strong role in keeping Surf Ranch guests safe. Under the direct supervision of the Water Safety Manager, the Lifeguard will be responsible to maintain the safety of all people in and around the water and assist in medical aid when incidents occur. The Lifeguard will make water related decisions with the utmost regard for Surf Ranch employees and its guests. The Lifeguard must have an expert level understanding of all wave system operations as well as the ability to detect unsafe aquatic practices and recommend safe avenues for guests in a professional polite manner. The Lifeguard will watch the water, affect rescues, when necessary, watch the surrounding property, enforce property rules, and assist with any medical or water related emergency.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Actively observe activities in the wave basin and facilitate a safe guest.
- Watch all employees and guests who enter the wave.
- Diligently watch the water to help prevent accidents and provide first aid, emergency medical aid and respond to emergencies as necessary.
- Work directly with Surf Guides and Water Safety.
- Perform water rescues within the scope of Lifeguard.
- Direct guests when minor and/or major water and medical emergencies.

The Senior Manager of Communications is a crucial role in the WSL Communications department and is responsible for focusing on and amplifying the WSL’s corporate, business, and athlete initiatives. This position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, partners, and stakeholders to develop and implement external and internal communications plans to promote key narratives and increase global awareness, with a prioritization on the US market.
This role reports directly into the VP, Global Communications. Based on business and team priorities, the successful candidate should be based in Los Angeles, California, in a hybrid working environment. This role will include three days in-office (El Segundo).
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Build global PR strategy/roadmap around the WSL’s key assets, including WSL Tours and its athletes, and WSL brand initiatives.
- Identify opportunities and pitch stories to further WSL’s key narratives and profiles in the press
- Key focus is generating press coverage through heavy pitching efforts to drive maximum awareness, particularly in the US, for mainstream media across target segments including, but not limited to: mainstream US news, sport, lifestyle, entertainment, and key thought-leaders.
- Support the Management and Leadership teams for strategies related to the brand, Tours, key programs, key events, partners, and athletes. Duties include drafting and reviewing press statements, background materials and briefing documents, brainstorming potential risks, and reviewing and consolidating feedback in real time.

Qualifications:

Surf RanchSki DriverWaveCo. Lemoore
The Ski Driver plays a strong role in keeping Surf Ranch guests safe. Under the direct supervision of the Water Safety Manager, the Ski Driver will be responsible for Surf Ranch water safety and medical aid when incidents occur. The Ski Driver will make water related decisions with the utmost regard for Surf Ranch employees and its guests. The Ski Driver must have an expert level understanding of all wave system operations as well as the ability to direct others and manage others in a team and group setting. The Ski Driver will direct all Lifeguards and Surf Coaches when any medical or water related emergency occurs.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Actively observe activities in the wave basin and facilitate a safe guest experience.
- Drive the jet ski in a safe controlled manner consistent with best RWC operator guidelines.
- Manage all employees and guests who enter the wave basin to surf, assist surfers, or to maintain the basin itself.
- Work directly with F&B Ops, Surf Guides, and other Lifeguards to ensure a timely schedule as to when guests should be in the water for their designated heat.
- Direct guests, other Lifeguards and Surf Guides when minor and/or major water and medical emergencies occur.
- Complete detailed reports for all incidents that require lifeguard contact.
- Maintain training requirements.
- Maintain the general upkeep of Surf Ranch facilities including boat ramp, jet ski, and lifeguard towers.
- Ensure all activities & operations are conducted in accordance with established procedures and policies.
- Clearly communicate between, water safety, control tower, and jet ski operator.
- Activate the 911 system should a guest need care from paramedics and/or fire rescue.
- Responsible for a thorough safety briefing if the Water Safety Manager is unavailable.
- Thorough understanding of Water Safety Handbook.
Experience and Qualifications
- 6 months+ experience working at Surf Ranch
- Advanced to expert knowledge of Surf Ranch Basin
- USLA Lifeguard Certification
- EMT certification or 5 years experience EMR
- Wave Runner (PWC) rescue experience and training

- Physically able to swim, swim in rough and deep water, walk, run, walk or run over rough or uneven surfaces, bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, and carry loads; use hand to handle, or feel; reach with arms and hands; talk, taste, smell and see (both near and far). Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch.
- Must be able to swim at least 550 yards, dive at least 10 feet deep, swim with a 80-pound object for at least 20 yards, and tread water for at least 2 minutes.
- Ability to lift a person off the bottom and out of the water.
- Perform all skills required for Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR.
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time in outside air temperatures and conditions.
- Comfortable in the water.
