Viam is building a new platform to make robotics more approachable to engineers of all backgrounds, empowering thousands of startups to achieve their robotic visions. We're taking on the hard software challenges, enabling engineers to build modular, practical robots efficiently and cost effectively. We're working on integrating hardware and software in new ways, giving engineers much greater abilities to accomplish their goals. At the same time, we're trying to increase the pace of innovation by bringing costs down tremendously.
Viam's products are built by engineers, for engineers. We want to build a platform we would want to use ourselves. As the Head of Product Marketing, you will be responsible for building out the PMM function, defining product messaging and market fit, competitive and market research, developing engaging and informational content about the Viam platform to educate the market, influencing product roadmap with customer insights, building out a customer reference program, working closely with product leadership as well as any project you choose to run that aligns with the company’s mission. The position will report to the CMO and work closely with the CEO.
You'll be:
- Driving product marketing direction for Viam, collaborating with other marketing, engineering and product functions
- Developing and activate Viam’s core messaging and positioning
- Understanding market trends, customer requirements, usage and buying behavior, and the partner ecosystem to better identify market opportunities and customer demand for Viam’s platform
- Using customer, partner and industry research to influence product strategy and drive effective messaging
- Educating the market about Viam’s core technical value offerings through collaterals such as demos, case studies, white-papers, workshops, presentations, technical blogs and more
- Growing a customer reference program to engage our customers and to showcase customer success using Viam
- Providing input about product priorities and goals to Product Management
- Crafting engaging audience-specific content, including case studies, presentations, data sheets, whitepapers, blogs and more
- Collaborating directly with the CEO, CMO and Head of Product
We're looking for someone who:
- 5+ years of PMM experience
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Adept at digesting complex, technical ideas and framing them in easy to understand language
- Curious by nature– committed to exploring new and unique ways to solve problems
- Affinity for big ideas and taking risks
- Technical background or clear understanding of developer products
- Able to coordinate across many teams and perform in fast-moving startup environment
- Demonstrated experience building credibility with and delivering results for product teams, sales teams and customers
- Uses data to make informed decisions

Preferred, but not critical qualifications:
