Veterinary Practice Partners is seeking a Vice President of Operations to join our team!

Veterinary Practice Partners (VPP) is a management company that forms joint ventures with Veterinarians to co-own and run their veterinary practices. Once the joint venture is formed, VPP provides support and leadership for marketing, financial, operations, IT, and human resources functions while the veterinarian leads the clinical and client services functions. VPP currently has over 150 partner hospitals with 2,500+ employees and continued growth. VPP is a dynamic, profitable, growth company with strong financial private equity backing.

Summary:
The Vice President of Operations will lead strategic and operational initiatives across the company, with a focus on driving operational efficiency, teammate retention, revenue growth and cost management, while ensuring excellent quality of care and client experience at our hospitals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the performance of hospitals in their territory, ensuring facility operations perform at their best to meet or surpass budget goals and key performance indicators.
  • Cultivate a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture that empowers teams to innovate and succeed.
  • Develop and mentor operational leaders, creating a talent pipeline for future organizational growth.
  • Take a proactive approach in influencing and driving engagement and retention across hospitals, fostering a positive hospital culture, and leading operations and hospital leaders to do the same.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with hospital leadership teams and other key stakeholders.
  • Enable delivery of exceptional patient care while complying with regulatory standards (OSHA, DEA, FDA, etc.).
  • Work collaboratively with the broader Operations team as well as the Finance, HR, Marketing, and IT teams to optimize processes and implement various initiatives, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while providing expertise and guidance on operations performance and initiatives.
  • Implement operational efficiency improvements in systems, quality control, safety, and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational training, education, and risk management policies.
  • Collaborate with Business Development on de novo and acquisition activities and support the integration of newly partnered practices into VPP.
  • Ensure operations leaders are conducting monthly and quarterly hospital performance reviews with the hospital medical director to create a culture of accountability, business acumen, and customer service, providing leadership and guidance on areas of opportunity as needed.
  • Foster a collaborative environment where veterinarians and staff across VPP hospitals work together on projects
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regional veterinary services market and industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  • 10+ years’ operations management experience, including three years in a senior-level position, with a proven track record of driving profitable growth and achieving performance targets.
  • Strong knowledge of business operations, financial management, and strategic planning.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading, mentoring and developing territory-driven managers.
  • Veterinary or animal healthcare experience is a plus, not necessary. Without animal healthcare, must have experience managing multi-site locations in a retail, healthcare or restaurant management (to name a few) type environment. Single-site veterinary clinic management would be considered.
  • Experience working with doctors (veterinarians or physicians) a plus.
