Because you belong at Twilio

The Who, What, Where and Why

We are searching for a VP of Product Marketing to lead the team responsible for the messaging and positioning for our outstanding customer engagement platform, powering brands like Lyft, Morgan Stanley and Nordstrom. This team sits at the interface between sales and product management and is tasked with ensuring that Twilio is consistently viewed as the most relevant brand in the market.

We don’t have hard and fast requirements - everyone is different. We are looking for you to self-assess whether you have these four core attributes of a great marketing leader:

  • People leadership: How you encourage your team and influence your peers is essential -  tell us your stories, how you’ve built and motivated teams to accomplish big tasks. You know that success comes from consistently reinforcing strong product marketing fundamentals with your team.

  • Product Curiosity:  You relish working with product teams to evaluate the competitive landscape, unlock new markets and position your company to win.

  • Creativity: What's the last product you’ve marketed? How have you made a company and its products relevant to the intended audience and the market at-large.

  • Metrics: Everything we do is grounded in metrics. Having a decent understanding of the developer journey as well as pipeline dynamics will be critical to your success in this role.  You will be driven not by simple quantity of assets produced, but by the impact of those assets. You know how to measure and evaluate metrics around traffic and lead generation impact, along with asset usage by the Sales team.

Bonus points:

  • Familiarity with communications technologies and how they work. You understand VoIP, WebRTC, Messaging, solutions such as IVR and contact center, and how to provide great quality communication experiences.

  • Developer targeted cloud services & technologies

  • You've worked in enterprise software and with technology products that have targeted enterprises via direct, online, and channel strategies.

  • You have extensive experience working with large enterprise sales teams.

  • You can build a Twilio app yourself.

Twilio needs to differentiate itself with concise and memorable positioning across all channels - website, content, events, etc. Hence we're looking for a good storyteller who can hold the room and would consider themself a strong cross functional operator.

  • Be bold: Developer Success is Twilio’s #1 value and the product team is constantly releasing new solutions to empower developers to build the exact experience they want.  Own bringing these new products to market both internally through enablement as well as externally through online, press and analyst channels.

  • Wear the customer's shoes:  As a platform company, it is important that Twilio gives customers the tools to envision what their ideal state of communications could be.  Product marketing is in charge of bringing programs to our customers that help them picture Twilio across multiple products in their own world and context - be it sales, service, marketing or IT.

  • Be inclusive: The Twilio product marketing team is growing.  As the leader of this team, you will need to identify the ideal team structure, career paths and goals in a highly dynamic environment.

  • Ruthlessly prioritize:  You and your team will be coordinating some of the biggest efforts across the company
