Twilio is seeking an exceptional principle software engineer to join as tech lead for Twilio.org, our social impact division. Twilio.org is focused on building an equitable, resilient, and environmentally sustainable society through Twilio’s products, people, and funding. Our newly created Twilio.org engineering department is looking for a tech lead to help deliver products for our nonprofit customers and set the technical direction for the team.

Who?

Twilio is looking for a technical leader who lives the Twilio Magic and has a demonstrated track record of designing and implementing high scalable software services.  They also have:

  • 7+ years experience in designing and building and operating high-scale, mission critical cloud based production systems .
  • Knowledge of architectural patterns and archetypes for building mature services, especially for distributed and multi-regional deployments
  • Excellent abilities in high level service design -- modeling interfaces and internals in a properly modular, composable, and extensible ways.
  • Extensive experience with REST API design and implementation
  • Deep understanding and hands on experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Deep familiarity with best coding standards and proven record of high quality coding skills, ideally with modern Java and Javascript frameworks
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to work in an environment with minimal guidance
  • Technical leadership to successfully execute and deliver on complex projects
  • Ability to balance technical objectives with broader product and impact goals
  • Energized by use of technology to create positive social impact

As a Technical Lead (L5) you will live the Twilio Magic values:

  • DON’T SETTLE: Drive high engineering standards on the team through code review, automated testing, and mentoring. We care about what our code looks like, how it performs, and how it enables our customers to succeed, and you should too. 
  • BE AN OWNER: Support production operations, building, releasing and assisting with team on-call. Teams will be small and empowered so that you can move fast and ship to production multiple times in a 2 week sprint
  • WRITE IT DOWN: Evaluate opportunities, risk and technical strategies and provide key findings to internal partners.

In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Twilio's reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation for this role if hired in Colorado. Please note that this information is provided for those hired in Colorado only, and this role is open to candidates outside of Colorado as well. 

Salary:

Denver/Boulder Metro:

Salary Range: $146,240.00 - $201,080.00

Rest of Colorado:

Salary Range: $127,960.00 - $175,945.00

Non Sales: Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Twilio's equity plan.
