Senior Functional Safety Engineer - Software

With a foundation in computer vision, algorithms, mapping, and AI, TuSimple is working to create the first commercially viable autonomous truck driving platform with L4 (SAE) levels of safety.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain work products defined by the safety standards to prove compliance of the Safety Case.
  • Software analysis of compliance against the safety plan and of industry functional safety standards, for example, ISO26262, ASPICE, and EC 61508.
  • Work with team members to develop IATF 16949 and ISO 26262 Procedures, Instructions, Data/Record collection strategies
  • Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis
  • Create design level Functional Block Diagrams
  • Facilitate 7FM FMEAs
  • Create Acceptance Test Plans (ATP) for AI System Installations
  • Support System Integration Validation Testing
  • DVP&R Support

Requirements

  • Hold a B.S. or higher degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science/Engineering and related field
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Strong understand of software simulation, validating software functions, and software safety mechanisms
  • Deep understanding of software quality concepts and processes (CMMI)
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and related coding standards (e.g. Automotive MISRA or similar)
  • Strong background in OS internals, real-time embedded operating system, algorithms and data structures
  • Familiarity with computer system architecture, microprocessor, and microcontroller fundamentals (caches, buses, memory controllers, DMA, etc.)
  • Experience in software and hardware/software interface root cause analysis
  • Ability to work in a startup business environment and to work respectfully with other teammates
  • Ability to work closely with both software and hardware designers to create new features and solutions
  • Expert in configuration management (hardware, its firmware, serial number, hardware, etc.)
  • Experience with security standards (EAL/CC, SAE J3061)
  • Advance knowledge of computer architectures, low-level device programming and bus interfaces (PCIe, I2C, SPI, etc.), and overlay programming models
  • Hands on experience with FMEA, FMEDA, and FTA
