TULA is looking for an experienced Product Development Manager to own and execute Product Development for TULA from conception to final product. This Manager will be working in a fast paced, creative environment that offers an opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing brand.  This role reports to the Director of Product Development and will work in close partnership with the Brand Marketing & Operations teams. TULA headquarters are based in Nomad in New York City (although we are currently working remotely!)

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Director of Product Development to build our product development strategy and annual pipeline / launch roadmap to build a differentiated, commercially successful assortment and drive growth via innovation
  • Analyze trends in skincare and probiotics to provide ideas for innovation pipeline to build TULA’s differentiated brand positioning
  • Support and help organize brainstorming sessions/R&D meetings as well as third party vendor meeting to seek innovation and new concepts
  • Draft product briefs and claims for products in collaboration with Brand Marketing
  • Negotiate with manufacturers / vendors to hit COGS targets
  • Partner with PD Project Manager from concept to final product to hit aggressive timelines and be the direct liaison with outside vendors to manage submissions, testing, ingredient lists, and costs
  • Review and organize all sample submissions from labs and manage feedback process with key stakeholders
  • Maintain database of all submissions, including written evaluations and verbal feedback to ensure accuracy of information
  • Partner with PD Project Manager for tracking products / projects for weekly / daily reviews as necessary
  • Coordinate samples and materials for third party testing facility; manage and review supporting assets such as B&A’s, test results, and materials for retail partner support
  • Support claim substantiation with ingredient and product testing

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in skincare product development
  • Experience working with manufacturing partners / external chemists on custom formula development required
  • Extremely strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, team player & problem-solver
  • Experience with clinical testing and market regulations a plus
  • Interest in the skin microbiome / probiotics and their benefits in topical skincare
  • Ability to thrive within a fast-paced startup environment and balance competing priorities, as well as a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and pitch in to ensure successful execution
