Totus Medicines, an innovative therapeutic drug discovery biotech, is just emerging from stealth. With a $40M Series A, Totus is poised to revolutionize drug discovery. For the first time, Totus is enabling genome-scale drug discovery to allow the identification of precision medicines for hard-to-drug targets. At its core, Totus is a chemical biology company. Totus’ novel proprietary platform allows screening at a rate more than 100,000 times faster than competitive technologies. Totus has pioneered the development of selective medicines for patients with genetically defined cancers and plans for its first program to enter Phase I by end of 2022. Totus also plans to expand their platform to create therapeutics targeted at neurodegeneration, infectious diseases, and others. We are searching for talented, passionate, high-energy candidates to join our growing team.

We are seeking a passionate, driven, and creative molecular and cell biologist to join our Totus platform team. The successful candidate will work closely with a high-performing group of chemists, chemical biologists, biophysicist, biochemists, cell biologists, data scientists and lead discovery experts to advance the Totus genome scale drug discovery platform with a focus on developing target-based approaches to rapidly analyze target-small molecule biological effects.

In this role you will:

  • Develop robust medium-to-high throughput cell-based assays for target validation, evaluation of pharmacological effect and understanding of mechanism of action of target engagement.
  • Design, conduct, and manage experiments in-house or at CROs using pharmacologic or genetic approaches in relevant in vitro cellular models.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data and present results to senior management, other departments within the organization, external collaborators, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with chemists, chemical biologists, biochemists, biophysicists and data scientists to generate a genome scale drug discovery platform using modern assay tools.
  • Training and mentoring junior team members.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Bio-Engineering or related field with 3+ years of postdoctoral and/or drug discovery industry research experience, preferably in the field of oncology.
  • Rigorous and productive experimentalist with strong critical thinking skills and deep understanding of cell signaling networks and enthusiasm for genomic techniques.
  • Extensive experience with cell culture techniques and cell line engineering, particularly with the development of cell-based functional assays and relevant assay readout technologies (e.g. alphaLISA, MSD, FRET, BRET, luminescence, flow cytometry, qPCR, NGS etc.).
  • Proficiency with microscopy and/or epifluorescence microscopy would be an advantage.
  • Expertise with functional genomic screening approaches (e.g. RNAi, CRISPR KO, CRISPRi, and CRISPRa) is highly preferred.
  • Highly motivated detailed-oriented individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills and willingness to proactively engage in an interdisciplinary and collaborative internal Platform team.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools to analyze large datasets (e.g., SpotFire, Knime, GeneData Screener, Datagrok) would be beneficial, although training will be provided as needed.
  • Experience in mentoring and managing junior team members and/or external partners/CRO is a plus.

What We Offer

  • A knowledgeable, high-achieving, experienced and fun team

  • A diverse work atmosphere

  • The chance to be part of a growing startup and the next success story

  • The opportunity to shape our company culture

  • Constant learning and dynamic challenges to help you grow and be the best version of yourself
