The Entertainment Editor will help run The Daily Beast’s culture team as we report on the world of entertainment—from TV to movies to sports to music to celebrity culture. With a fearless attitude and nose for scoops, the Editor will be an integral part of The Daily Beast’s award-winning entertainment team.
The ideal candidate will have a high news metabolism and a proven ability to edit and report out compelling news stories, profiles, and features with flair and wit. The candidate should also bring a sophisticated understanding of popular culture, broadly defined—and how it intersects with politics, race, power, money, and identity.
Edit and run reporters on news stories, profiles, and features with exclusive information and sharp perspective.
Assign and shape stories on major players in the world of pop culture.
Help reporters to track down sources and comb through records.
Contribute to breaking news coverage of major events.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple projects and deadlines.
Willingness to collaborate with other editors, reporters, and media partners.
Strong editing, reporting and writing skills.
In-depth knowledge of one or more major facets of pop culture, like streaming video, music, or sports.
A self-starter who can conceive and execute stories with impact.
An understanding of pressing topics for diverse cultures, communities, and racial and ethnic identities.
