About the Head of Product Marketing Position

We’re looking for an energetic and enthusiastic head of product marketing. We emphasize “head of” because we’re not just looking for a contributor, but someone who can and wants to own the product marketing function. You’re a master storyteller who lives at the intersection of products and customers.

You have ideas and opinions on what we should be doing to achieve our objectives and equally thoughts on what we should not be doing. You see where we are today, where we want to be, and can set a path to achieve that. 

You’re entering into an ideal situation - we have a first-of-its kind product that delivers against a critical need in the market. With this novelty comes the opportunity and challenge of creating awareness and understanding of how Stairwell’s product can help customers. 

This individual will report into the VP of marketing. You’ll work closely with the VP on objectives and strategy, but will have responsibility and autonomy in bringing it to life. 

Head of Product Marketing Responsibilities: 

  • Own the product positioning and narrative to help Stairwell win in a new category
  • Develop messaging and materials for use across all channels and own the process of bringing this to market
  • Be the “intelligence center” for the marketing team - on everything from product, category, and customer intelligence
  • Develop a strategy, plan, and roadmap for product marketing across near, mid, and long term horizons
  • Drive product focused marketing campaigns working closely with other marketing team members/functions
  • Partner and support across functions - from sales to product to finance
  • Found, scale, and lead a top class PMM team

Head of Product Marketing Qualifications: 

  • 8+ years combined experience in product marketing, product management, or other practical experience
  • Successful track record of bringing new products and features to market
  • Deep cybersecurity category expertise including understanding security technology landscape, key industry competitors, customer personas and buying journeys, and industry trends
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Ability to not only convey facts, but tell a story that influences audiences
  • Ability to program manage PMM workstreams - organizing team members, timelines, and other requirements
  • Able to drive high level strategy but also willing to roll up sleeves and execute marketing campaigns
  • Bonus:
    • You have prior startup experience
    • Cybersecurity expertise, but also perspective from other industries/categories
    • Contributions to our “pets - furry and otherwise” slack channel.
