Our Opportunity

At Snyk there are various foundational technologies that every Snyker (Snyk employee), Customer, and Partner is likely to interact with. Team Access is responsible for some of the highest throughput and lowest latency systems here at Snyk. Our mission is to ensure that authentication and authorization are correct, reliable and stable, all at a rapidly increasing scale as we grow our user base and serve some of the world’s largest enterprises, enabling millions of external developers through our security products.

We are looking for a Staff Engineer who cares about building solid and secure access solutions for all of Snyk’s services to join Team Access, in the Platform Engineering Division. You will be one of two Staff engineers providing technical leadership in Team Access, and working closely with the Identity and API teams within the Foundation Group,as well as teams across R&D, through Access's crucial role in inter-service communications.

You’ll Spend Your Time:

Shaping our technical implementations and guiding the team on work which spans multiple critical systems and affects many teams
Actively contributing production code, prototyping and developing testing strategies, balancing a bias for action and focus on iterative delivery alongside the need for correctness and continuously raising the bar for reliability. For Snyk, Production covers a multi-cluster, multi-region design across a range of deployment options: Multi-tenant SaaS, and Single-tenant SaaS.
Collaborating with Product, other technical leads, architects, and business stakeholders to understand key requirements and translate them into project briefs (we call these ‘pitches’) and technical specs.
Collaborating with your team via pair programming and code reviews, working with others in both synchronous and asynchronous settings
Innovating through strategic system design improvements that deliver both short-term gains and long-term advantages in reliability, availability and scalability.
Leading by example, fostering an environment of inclusion and growth through pairing, feedback and mentoring

What You’ll Need:

High standards for code quality, testing, and iterative, continuous delivery
Experience with Authentication and Authorization patterns
Experience working with distributed systems
A track record of delivering highly available systems in production environments
A track record of project leadership
The ability to talk about complex technical concepts in ways that make it easy for others to understand and follow along.

We’d be Lucky if You:

Have experience with Networking and API Gateways
Are familiar with Audit patterns and best practices
