SimpliSafe is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Operations Leader to join the Boston development and manufacturing team of our award-winning wireless/IoT home security system.  You will work with internal and external teams to lead the product development activities of the manufacturing operations team, from concept generation to manufacturing ramp stability.  In this leadership role, you will be the voice of the manufacturing team, leading an internal and external manufacturing team to achieve the cost, quality and delivery goals of the program.    

What You'll Do 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead a global manufacturing team consisting of product and manufacturing quality engineering, process development and engineering, test development and engineering, commodity and custom part sourcing, EMS/CM sourcing, and product engineering to achieve the cost, quality, and delivery goals of new SimpliSafe products
  • Work closely with the SimpliSafe development team and the external JDM/EMS/CM/Supplier teams to align the roles and responsibilities between the teams and ensure that the teams are properly integrated to achieve their deliverables
  • Develop and actively manage the product development schedule from program kick-off through manufacturing ramp and ensure that all requirements from internal and external partners are considered
  • Develop and manage the program budget including NRE, tooling, production line equipment, prototype builds, and qualification and compliance costs
  • Develop prototype build objectives and work with the cross-functional team of internal and external partners to achieve these prototype build objectives
  • Work with marketing, sales, finance, sourcing and supply planning to ensure proper capacity is in place to meet the ramp plan and forecast
  • Act as the point of accountability and the voice of the program by communicating the state of the program and the program risks and issues to senior management
  • Work cross-functionally to continuously improve the product development process and the integration of SimpliSafe development processes with our external JDM/EMS/CM partner processes

What You'll Bring

  • 10+ years in the development and manufacturing of high-volume consumer electronics
  • Data-driven and results-oriented approach to problem solving
  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization
  • Extensive skills in project management, schedule development and management, and budget management
  • Prior experience managing external EMS and JDM partners
  • Ability to develop and foster partner relationships

  • Experience working with Asian manufacturers and traveling to manufacturing sites
  • Ability to travel internationally 25%
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering

  • Experience with refurbishment and repair processes as well as postponement processes
