Position
We are seeking a patent specialist to join our growing Legal Opportunities team. This team focuses on litigation finance and monetization of legal assets. The position will report to the Senior Managing Director, Legal Opportunities, and the Senior Managing Director, Head of Litigation Finance. It is based in New York City and is subject to the firm’s hybrid policy (in office 3 days per week).
Key Responsibilities
Essential Components:
Legal
Experience in litigation of patent disputes
Working with law firms, corporates and inventors to assess litigation against infringers
Evaluate issues of prior art and infringement
IPR, Markman and ITC experience a plus
Monetization of patent portfolios
Understanding the value of a set of patents
Royalty Rates
Understanding of USPTO processes
Ability to review and understand claim charts and determine if patents are valid
Requirements
J.D. from top law school preferred
Undergraduate or other degree in or knowledge of engineering or a technical field preferred
Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience
Prior experience at a top law firm or corporate patent holder
Familiarity with monetization is a plus
