About the Optimism Collective and Optimism Unlimited

The Optimism Collective is redefining power to elevate humanity by building a more equitable internet. Our vision for this citizen-governed network: a composable, unified constellation of blockchains that can support internet-level activity; powered by the MIT-licensed open source OP Stack.

To date, the Optimism Collective is defined by its focus on scaling Ethereum and funding public goods. We’ve processed hundreds of millions of transactions and are responsible for the largest ongoing public goods funding program in existence.

Optimism Unlimited is a subsidiary of the Optimism Foundation that focuses on supporting the growth, adoption, and governance of the Optimism Collective.

A broad distribution of voting power across key stakeholders is critical to the success of Optimism’s Token House. As Optimism scales its novel governance system, is is imperative that we do so in a way that results in a distribution of voting power that is representative of the competencies required of the Token House and that is resistant to capture. The Voting Power Distribution Lead will lead cross-functional strategies to increase votable supply in a way that considers the overall distribution of voting power, using a variety of crypto native methods.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop holistic strategy to increase votable supply of OP among key stakeholders. This could include airdrops, marketing campaigns, partnerships, governance initiatives, etc.
  • Design and ship experiments to assess the impact of delegation and/or other governance programs on the distribution of voting power.
  • Work cross functionally to ensure growth initiatives are aligned with overall voting power distribution goals. This may include waterfall analyses of the anticipated impact of unlocks on voting power, identification of the key milestones required to enable borrowing and lending of OP while protecting the governance system, etc.
  • Ensure new entry into the system is possible by experimenting with product features such as annual undelegation, incentivized re-delegation, alternative delegation UI/UXs, innovative delegation contracts, etc.
  • Establish measures to evaluate the concentration of voting power, and the impact of different experiments on said measures, over time

Requirements:

  • Deep interest in governance, delegation, and voter representation. DAO experience is strongly preferred
  • Advanced understanding of crypto native problem space and solutions (airdrops, smart contracts, etc.)
  • Successful track record of shipping products, features, or community programs to a public audience
  • Previous experience in strategy, project and/or product management
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to work cross functionally, both at Unlimited and across the community, to get things done
  • Candidate must be based outside the U.S.
