At present, the most pressing bottleneck to the growth of Ethereum is its performance and scalability. We are building the most elegant solution to this problem. We do this in the open (under an MIT open source license) because we believe in open source innovation and its ability to accelerate growth.
OP Labs is building Optimism mainnet, and by extension, the infrastructure that powers all OP-Stack chains. We are improving Ethereum’s performance by orders of magnitude and donating the profits from doing so to funding Ethereum public goods. By operating as a Public Benefit Corporation, OP Labs can align its incentives with the public good and take positive-sum steps toward a sustainable future for the internet.
We are looking for an experienced software engineer to join our growing Infrastructure team. The goal of the team is to build the best platform for developers and operators of the Superchain. An ideal candidate is high-agency and excited about building world-class software, developer tooling and infrastructure that supports the wider Optimism ecosystem.
What are the role responsibilities?
- Contribute to the development of the Optimism protocol with an emphasis on tooling and infrastructure
- Develop and maintain the infrastructure platform and related software tools to meet the needs of OP Lab’s team and open source collaborators
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Software Engineering, DevRel and other teams to design and implement scalable solutions that optimize platform performance and reliability
- Write clean, reliable and well-tested code in programing languages such as Go
- Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies, tools and systems to improve infrastructure efficiency and streamline operations
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, architectural discussions and cross-functional collaboration to drive innovation and best practices
What skills do you bring?
- Experience in software design and development with a focus on infrastructure-related projects, platform solutions and / or developer-focused systems
- Proficiency in systems programming languages such as Go and experience with Docker, Kubernetes and Terraform
- Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS and Azure
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work with high-agency in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to articulate complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with monorepo-based and open source development practices
- Passion for / interest in Web3, blockchain scalability or public goods companies
