About the team
At Nubank we heavily rely on Data, Machine Learning and other AI & Data Analytics to drive our strategy and provide the best experience and products to our customers. The Model Risk team plays a crucial role in ensuring risks associated with our models are under control and that they meet business and customer needs. We are expanding the team's role to cover more broadly Data Risk topics, with a focus on Data Governance, seeking to ensure a reliable, organized and stable Data Environment to support models and critical business decisions.

About the role:
This is a senior analyst position, you will help apply the Risk Management framework for Data Governance and Models Data & Infra to mitigate risks associated with data production and consumption, with a focus on models data and deployment infrastructure. You will collaborate with other teams to evaluate the effectiveness of Data Governance and Infrastructure but with an independent view.

 

What you will do:

  • Conduct independent reviews to scrutinize the data and infrastructure environments utilized for developing, implementing, and monitoring machine learning models, aiming to improve the reliability of data, models and critical processes.
  • Help with enhancing the data governance and model governance.
  • Establishment of specific controls and validation practices for data utilization.
  • Help other teams to identify and mitigate risks associated with data and models deployment.
  • Develop and improve tools,analysis and playbooks specific to the risk management team
  • Discuss and report data risk, model data and infra status and independent opinions with different stakeholders, including senior managers and regulators.
  • Be exposed to different types of decisions and processes (e.g. credit, fraud, operations and in different countries)
  • Ensure the team maintains a high level of technical excellence.

Requirements we are looking for:

  • Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills: Proficiency in programming languages for data manipulation, model development, and model deployment such as Python, SQL, Scala, Clojure or others.
  • Machine learning expertise: In-depth knowledge of supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and optimization techniques is crucial.
  • Data analysis and manipulation: Experience in working with large datasets, data preprocessing, feature engineering, and data visualization is valuable in risk management.
  • Statistical knowledge: Familiarity with statistical concepts, hypothesis testing, probability theory, and statistical modeling is necessary for analyzing and modeling risks.
  • Risk management knowledge: Basic understanding of risk management principles, methodologies, and frameworks (ERM, Basel, COSO, and others)
  • Problem-solving skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential for identifying risk factors and implementing effective risk management strategies.
  • Communication skills: Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary for collaborating with other team members, presenting findings to stakeholders, and translating technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
  • Advanced or Fluent level in English: You will be meeting with partners and stakeholders from different countries and preparing documentation and presentations all in English
  • Work experience in a 2nd or 3rd line of defense would be a PLUS
  • Familiarity with the Data Mesh architecture and principles would be a PLUS
