This role will be responsible for providing business intelligence and quantitative findings on the most crucial business opportunities. You will guide how we build the data infrastructure and reporting mechanism to support strategic initiatives across Operations, Product, and Growth. Your focus areas may include revenue optimization, clinic productivity and performance management, customer segmentation and personalization, product analytics, multi-touch attribution, market sizing, and demand forecasting.

The ideal candidate will be a proven leader who can effectively connect the dots and drive data-informed business and product recommendations for Modern Animal. You will diagnose our current challenges with data and implement a comprehensive plan to scale and grow our analytics capabilities in partnership with cross-functional leaders.

How you’ll make an impact:


  • Develop and deliver a company-wide data framework and roadmap that streamlines how we analyze and interpret data to accelerate learnings and understanding across the organization
  • Own the maintenance and reporting of the company’s top-level KPIs and deliver insights in a timely manner
  • Provide guidance and thought-leadership on analytical best practices to business partners based on the goals and KPIs of each function
  • Lead the development of rich data visualization and compelling storytelling to explain trends and help both corporate and clinical stakeholders to engage with data

Operational Analytics

  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of role-based and clinic-level performance management dashboards
  • Deepen our quantitative understanding of in-clinic and Virtual Care workflows by defining and building a scalable analytics framework
  • Partner closely with Engineering to build requirements necessary to improve data accessibility and usability across various data sources (eg. HRIS and ERP system integrations) and facilitate efficient analysis and reporting
  • Oversee planning and execution of self-service analytics using Looker
  • Improve data visibility and quality of our talent pipeline to inform recruiting initiatives

Product Analytics

  • Identify key events to analyze engagement and behavioral data for both the internal PIMS and the app and develop a roadmap for event tracking implementation
  • Analyze and size opportunities to drive product prioritization and strategy for Virtual Care
  • Translate analytic insights into concrete, actionable product and business recommendations

Marketing Analytics

  • Create a data framework for user segmentation and lifecycle journey to help inform app personalization and clinical workflow optimization
  • Implement a multi-touch attribution model to inform customer acquisition strategy
  • Deliver data analytics and modeling to inform member churn prediction, clinical lifecycle, and demand forecasting

What we're looking for:

  • 7+ years of experience in Data Analysis, Business Intelligence, and Marketing Analytics
  • Proven abilities to ask the right questions and to use sound business judgment when collaborating with a wide range of partners
  • Strong problem-solving skills, able to distill a great amount of complexity and identify critical issues and challenges to inform decision making
  • Self-starter with a bias for action, able to roll up sleeves and get things done
  • Truth seeker, able to cut through the noise and identify the core issues/solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, specifically driving projects in a leadership role
  • High proficiency in SQL and Excel, and working knowledge in at least one scripting/statistical language (R, Python preferred)
  • Developer experience would be a strong plus, but not required
  • Based in Los Angeles, or willing to relocate
